Publication A Neuro-Detector Based On The Cybernetic Concepts For Fault Detection In Electric Motors(Journal Vibroengineering, Geliu Ratas 15 A, Kaunas, Lt-50282, Lithuania, 2011-12) Şeker, Serhat; Önal, Emel; Kaynaş, Tayfun; Akıncı, Tahir Çetin; TR7480; TR149517; TR141423; TR40367In this study, an auto-associative neural network (AANN) is designed as a fault detector using the cybernetic concepts. In this sense, an artificial neural network structure is connected with a finite state system or a finite automata and an AANN topology is described as a virtual detector. In terms of the practical application, vibration signals, which are taken from an induction motor of 5 HP for both the healthy and faulty motor cases, are considered in the spectral domain. The vibration signal presented in the healthy motor case is separated into 4 blocks and the spectral set of these blocks is used as input and target pattern sets during the training of the AANN. After the training process, a new vibration spectrum, which is defined in the faulty motor case is applied to this trained network and the faulty case is determined by the error variation at output nodes of the AANN. In this application, the error signal shows huge amplitudes between 2 and 4 kHz as an indicator of the bearing damage.Publication A Visual Basic Software For Computing of the One Dimensional Heat Equation by Using B Spline Solution(2009-07) Çağlar, Hikmet; Çağlar, Nazan; Özer, Mehmet; CUHACI, LEVENT; 112369Microsoft Visual Basic® has been used for developing a software for the one- dimensional heat equation. We have solved the equation by means of a computer and developed user-friendly software with a graphical user interface. The numerical solution of the equation is visually illustrated. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between personality and academic achievement of the Students of Vocational school in a private University in Istanbul, Turkey. There is a significant correlation between the students' personalities which are depicted via adjective checklist and the students' stress level assessed by Abidin's Stress Scale. Adjective Check List (ACL) items consist of adjectives which are words and/or phrases used for description in daily life in Turkish Language. The original ACL was built by 230 items. By using factor analysis, 230 items were reduced to 100 items. The scale composed of 100 items is examined for psychometric properties and internal consistency. Abidin's Stress Scale and ACL are conducted in the same time to a sample of 425 Students of School of Vocational Studies. Stress level and personality correlates of ACL are of interest on two Counts. First, in using the ACL it is important to know what variables may be confounded with mood. İşsizlikle mücadelede uygulanan politikalar her ülkenin istihdam ve işgücü piyasasının özelliklerine göre değişmekle birlikte, genel olarak pasif ve aktif istihdam politikaları olmak üzere ikiye ayrılmaktadır. Türkiye’de uzun yıllar işsizlik sorunu ile mücadelede pasif istihdam politikaları uygulanmış ancak bu politikaların sorunu çözmede yeterli olmadığı görülmüştür. Bu çalışmada; işsizlik sorunu, işsizlikle mücadelede uygulanan aktif istihdam politikaları ve Türkiye İş Kurumu’nun (İŞKUR) işsizlik sorununun çözümündeki etkisi ele alınmaktadır. Aynı zamanda, aktif politikalar içinde yer alan işgücü yetiştirme programlarının, işsizlik sorununun çözümüne etkisi değerlendirilmektedir.Publication Analyzing the Challenges to Adoption of Drones in the Logistics Sector Using the Best-Worst Method(Adem Anbar, 2023) Çıkmak, Sinan; KIRBAÇ, GÖKHAN; Kesici, BuşraDrones, which are unmanned aerial vehicles, are used in various areas. Some important worldwide companies have been interested to integrate drone technology into their logistics applications. Although the use of drones promises various advantages such as reducing costs and improving responsiveness in the logistics sector, there are also various challenges to the adoption of this technology. Therefore, this study aims to identify and prioritize the challenges to drone technology adoption in the logistics sector. Initially, 34 challenges under seven major dimensions for the study were identified by a thorough literature review and consultation with selected experts. Then, the best-worst method (BWM) is applied to rank these major challenges and associated sub-criteria. The results show that “terrorist attacks”, “lack of legal regulations”, “difficulty of flight permit processes”, “flight area limitation due to restrictive visual line of sight (VLOS)”, and “personal data protection” are the top five challenges that confront the logistics sector for adopting drone technology. The findings of this research will provide important insights to practitioners and researchers interested in new technologies that can be applied in the logistics sector.Publication COVID-19’un Yiyecek İçecek İşletmelerine Olan Etkisi(Doğuş Üniversitesi, 2022) Bilgin, Yasemin Koçak; TEKELİ, HACER NEYİRCovid-19, dünya çapında yiyecek içecek işletmelerini önemli ölçüde etkilemiştir. Bu etkilerin yiyecek içecek işletmelerinin sahip olduğu komplike yapısı itibari ile geniş çaplı incelenmesi gerekmektedir. Araştırmanın amacı İstanbul’da bulunan yiyecek içecek işletmelerinde Covid-19 pandemisinin etkilerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu bağlamda 57 yiyecek içecek işletmesi ile derinlemesine yapılan görüşmeler Maxqda 2021 desteği ile betimsel analize tabi tutulmuştur. Bu veriler ışığında ekonomik etkiler, menüye etkisi, işgücüne etkisi, ürün tedariğine etkisi ve tüketici tercihlerine olan etkisi olmak üzere 5 ana temaya ulaşılmıştır. Bu temalar ile pandeminin yiyecek içecek işletmelerine genel anlamda yarattığı olumsuz etkileri ortaya koymaktadır. İşletmeler ekonomik anlamda büyük zorluklar yaşamaktadır. Bununla birlikte pek çok ürün için tedarik sıkıntısı ortaya çıkmıştır. Pandemi ile değişen tüketici davranışları işletmelerin, hem menülerinde değişikliğine gitmesine sebep olmuş hem de paket servis hizmetini mecbur hale getirmiştir. İşletmelerin özellikle sokağa çıkma yasaklarının olduğu dönemlerde aldığı paket servis, web sitesinden sipariş imkanı gibi yenilikler işletmelerin geleceğe ayak uydurmasında önemli adımlar olmakla birlikte işten çıkarma, zorunlu izin kullandırma gibi uygulamalar sektördeki tecrübeli iş gücünün kaybına sebep olmaktadır. Nitekim, alınan önlemlerin yetersizliği ve pandeminin beklenenden uzun süre devam etmesi gibi sebepler ile görüşülen işletmelerden 3 tanesi kapanmıştır.Publication Defect Detection for Ceramic Materials by Continuous Wavelet Analysis(Kaunas Univ Technology Press, K Donelaicio 73, Kaunas Lt 3006, Lithuania, 2011) Kaynaş, Tayfun; Akıncı, Tahir Çetin; Yılmaz, Özyazgan; Özgiray, M.; Şeker, S.; 141423; 40367In this study, it is achieved to detect internal or surface cracks that can occur in the production of ceramic plates by using the method of impulse noise. Ceramic materials are often used in the industry especially as kitchenware of in areas such as construction sector. Many different methods are used in the quality assurance processes of ceramic materials. In this study, impact noise method is examined. This method is a test technique which is not used in the applications. The method is presented as an examination technique based on whether there is a deformation on the material according to the sound coming from the ceramic material as a result of a plastic bit hammer impact on the ceramic material. The application of the study is performed on plates made of ceramic materials. Ceramic double plates, made up of same materials, with same features, but in different models, are used therein. One of these ceramic double plates, both of which are completely in kind, is intact, and the other is cracked. Impulse noises, having arisen from the equal impulse power applied on these intact and cracked plates of same model were examined via wavelet analysis. By means of the applied method, it is seen to have shown significant results in distinguishing intact and cracked plates. Having the frequency and magnitude dimensions of the damages on the plates also examined by means of the applied analysis, significant distinguishing findings are attained therefrom.Publication Dönüşümcü Liderlik Tarzının Bilgi Paylaşımına Etkisinde Destekleyici Örgüt İkliminin Aracı Rolüne Yönelik Bir Araştırma(ASOS Eğitim Bilişim Danışmanlık Otomasyon Yayıncılık Reklam Sanayi ve Ticaret LTD ŞTİ., 2020) Bozkurt, Serdar; Demirhan, Ayşe; ÖZTÜRK, KÜBRA MERTELGünümüz iş dünyasında var olan değişim kendini özellikle çalışanların organizasyonlarından beklenti ve isteklerinde göstermektedir. Çalışanların beklenti ve isteklerini karşılamak adına organizasyonlarda birtakım yenilikler yapılması kaçınılmaz hale getirmiştir. Bu noktada, değişimi ve yeniliği destekleyecek liderlere ihtiyaç olduğu görülmektedir. Dönüşümcü liderlerin oluşturacağı destekleyici örgütsel iklimin çalışanlar üzerindeki etkileri farklı sonuçlarla kendini gösterebilecektir. Bu sonuçlardan biri de bilgi paylaşımı olarak göze çarpmaktadır. Araştırma, organizasyonlarda sergilenen dönüşümcü liderlik ile çalışanların bilgiyi paylaşımına etkisinde destekleyici örgüt ikliminin aracılık rolünü incelemektir. Araştırma verileri anket yoluyla toplanmıştır. Anket formunun ilk kısmı katılımcıların demografik niteliklerini tespit etmeye yöneliktir. İkinci kısım dönüşümcü liderlik ölçeği (bağımsız değişken), üçüncü kısım destekleyici örgüt iklimi (aracı değişken) ve son kısım ise bilgi paylaşımını (bağımlı değişken) ölçeğini içermektedir. Araştırma verilerinin analizinde; geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik analizlerinin yanı sıra, regresyon ve korelasyon analizlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Aracılık ilişkisinin test edilmesi içinse, Baron-Kenny (1986) tarafından önerilen ve aracılık ilişkisini üç aşamada ele alan yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya 135 çalışan katılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, dönüşümcü liderliğin çalışanların bilgi paylaşımları üzerindeki etkisinde destekleyici örgüt ikliminin tam aracı rolünün olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca değişkenler arasında orta ve yüksek düzeyde korelasyonel ilişki olduğu da belirlenmiştir. Bu çerçevede, dönüşümcü liderlik ile destekleyici destekleyici örgüt iklimi arasında yüksek düzeyde pozitif yönde, dönüşümcü liderlik ile bilgi paylaşımı arasında orta düzeyde pozitif yönde ve bilgi paylaşımı ile destekleyici örgüt iklimi arasında yine orta düzeyde pozitif yönde ilişkiler belirlenmiştir.Publication Electrochromic Properties of Sol-gel Deposited Ti-doped Vanadium Oxide Film(ELSEVIER SCIENCE SA, PO BOX 564, 1001 LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND, 1999-01) Özer, Nilgün; Sabuncu, SevsenTitanium-doped vanadium pentoxide, (100 - x)V2O5.xTiO(2) films with compositions ranging from 0 to 20 mole % titanium were prepared by using sol-gel dip coating techniques. Highly transparent (100 - x)V2O5.xTiO(2) films With properties superior to vanadium oxide were formed. The coating solutions were prepared by reacting vanadium tri-isopropoxide oxide and titanium tetra-isopropoxide as precursors and anhydrous isopropanol as solvent. The films were formed on transparent conducting substrates by a dip coating technique and heat treated at 300 degrees C for 1 h. The films were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, optical spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy +/- SEM, and X-ray diffractometer (XRD). XRD results show that the films heat treated at temperatures below 400 degrees C were amorphous. The electrochemical lithium insertion shows that (100 - x)V2O5.xTiO(2) films exhibited good recharge ability of Li+/e(-) insertion/extraction process. Spectroelectrochemical measurements from 300 to 800 nm show that (100 - x)V2O5;O-5.xTiO(2) films exhibit weak cathodic coloration in the near uv and weak anodic coloration from 500 to 800 nm. It was observed that the addition of titanium resulted in marked improvement in the electrochromic behavior. This was especially seen for vanadium pentoxide doped with 5 mole % titanium. The scattering of electromagnetic waves due to physical and geometrical discontinuity is creating surface waves which are still dominant in prediction of material properties. A dielectric sheet on the ground plane will act as a guiding structure for surface waves. Matching the magnetic and electric field components across the air-dielectric boundary gives surface wave modes. One of the components of the scattered field is the surface wave, propagating along the air-ground interface. Wiener-Hopf showed that a certain singular integral equation could be solved exactly using the theory of Complex Fourier transforms and functions of a complex variable. This method of solution is known as the Wiener-Hopf technique. In order to explain electromagnetic wave scattering, we have to find the solution of Maxwel equations by using boundary or mixed boundary conditions. Wiener-Hopf technique is very important tool in the solution of scattering problems having special geometrical structures. This method is only accurate if the coating is very thin or lossy. To improve the accuracy, generalized impedance conditions can be used to simulate the material properties of a planar surface. The accurate solution of a scattering problem via planar slab depends on its thickness, the wavelength of incident wave, and material properties of the slab. Since boundary condition is local in character, accuracy decreases when the slab is illuminated at near grazing angle. Accuracy also decreases if the slab has a curved shape. To increase accuracy or provide a better simulation of the material, we have to search for alternative conditions. In this study, the Taylor series method is applied to a planar slab. This method gives reasonable solution even if slab has a curved shape. Power reflection and transmission coefficients are depicted versus different impedance and observation angles.Publication Evaluation of Public Relations Curriculum on Student and Sector Expectations: A Research on Istanbul Province(Gümüşhane Üniversitesi, 2021) Özgen, Ebru; Yıldız, Engincan; AYDOĞDU, İREMCommunication education is important for every sector today. Students who receive public relations education should be directed to success by teaching honesty not only for today but also in their profession, which is open to all kinds of changes they will face in the long term. This qualitative research is an important article aimed at questioning the actuality of public relations education and curriculum. In this context, it was ensured that students and public relations managers evaluate the public relations curriculum. The article allowed public relations students and public relations managers to evaluate public relations education and curriculum. The study was carried out in 2 different samples. In the first sample, interviews were conducted with 44 public relations students about public relations education and curriculum with a semi-structured in-depth interview method. In the second stage, with the semi-structured in-depth interview method, 11 public relations managers were interviewed about public relations education and curriculum. In the findings of the study, the importance of foreign language, practical and theoretical knowledge for a good public relations education was revealed. It was concluded that both sides pointed out only the inadequacy of practical education. It has also been concluded that it emphasizes the importance of applied public relations. Accordingly, the importance of including applied education in the curriculum has emerged.Publication Evaluation Study of Using Blockchain Technology in Supply Chain Management Processes(Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, 2021) KIRBAÇ, GÖKHANNowadays, processes of information technologies have become important for supply chain management. Also, the supply chain processes become even more complex. In order to solve this complexity, businesses manage supply chain processes with many systems. Blockchain has a number of advantages for not only finance but also supply chain. The aim of this research is to serve a descriptive use case for using blockchain technology in the supply chain processes. In-depth interviews are conducted with supply chain managers and blockchain technology professionals. Architectural design processes of blockchain technology in the supply chain are determined. Lastly, Analytic Hierarchy Process was applied to the main characteristics of blockchain. Companies' financials are used to enlighten the logistics sector and supply chain operations byrevealing the developments between 2015 and 2019. Design/Methodology/Approach – The performance of the companies is evaluated by utilizing multi-criteriadecision-making techniques. As the best performance criteria affecting the companies’ performance isdetermined by Entropy Method, the company with the best performance is determined by WASPASMethod. Selected financial measurements are net sales, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), total assets, totalequity, and the amount of export. Findings – It can be reached from the results that Export was determined as the best performance criteriaaffecting the logistics companies’ performance for all the years between 2015 and 2019. On the other hand,while Netlog is the best alternative in the year of 2015, 2016 and 2019, Borusan is the best alternative in theyear of 2017. Discussion – Supply chain and logistics processes have critical importance in delivering the goods andservices of businesses to the final consumers. Hence, logistics companies need to determine performancemeasurements while performing these services. In the healthcare sector the competition among health institutions is increasing. Therefore, theselection of an appropriate hospital is an important decision problem for the private doctors. There is somedecision criterias used among private doctors to choose the hospitals to conduct medical operations (suchas surgery, delivery) for their patients are addressed within the context of ServQual service qualitydimensions. Besides, by using a Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) application, an examination ofthree hospitals in the Izmir province has been performed. This study has addressed the external stakeholderhospital choices of businesses that provide private clinic services before the Covid-19 Pandemic (before2020). As a result, the FAHP method was used in the final three hospitals. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between personality and internet usage of the students of Vocational school in a few of private Universities in Istanbul, Turkey. There is a significant correlation between the student' personality and the student' internet usage. The scale composed of 25 items is examined for psychometric properties. Whereas management is related to the management of people.Publication Kar Amaçsız İşletmelerde Hile Denetiminin Önemi(2015-02-28) Bircan, Gözde; 261927Günümüzde hile; kar amaçlı işletmeler, kar amaçsız işletmeler ve diğer tüm işletme türleri için araştırılan, incelenen ve değerlendirilen bir konu olmakla birlikte kar amaçsız işletmelerde hile olgusu gözardı edilen ve dikkatlerden kaçan tarafı oluşturmaktadır. Özellikle kar amaçsız işletmelerin varoluş amaçlarının topluma hizmet etmek ve fayda sağlamak üzerine inşa edilmesi ve birincil amaçlarının kar elde etmek olmaması bu tür işletmelerde hilenin kar amaçlı işletmelerdeki gibi ciddi bir tehdit olmayacağı yanılgısını doğurmaktadır. Benzer şekilde kar amaçsız işletmelerin toplumsal işlevleri ve üstlendikleri rol nedeniyle toplum tarafından bu işletmelere yönelik oluşan güven duygusu sözkonusu yanılgıyı desteklemektedir. Bu anlamda yapılan araştırma ve incelemelerde daha çok kar amaçlı işletmeler üzerine odaklanılması ise kar amaçsız işletmelerdeki hile riskini ve tehditini arttırarak bu işletmeleri hileye açık hale getirmektedir.
