Abstract

Covid-19 has significantly affected Food and Beverage Businesses worldwide. These effects need to be studied extensively due to the complicated nature of food and beverage businesses. The aim of the research is to reveal the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on Food and Beverage enterprises located in Istanbul. In this context, in-depth interviews with 57 Food and Beverage businesses were subjected to descriptive analysis with the support of Maxqda 2021. In the light of these data, 5 main themes have been reached: economic effects, effect on menu, effect on workforce, effect on product supply and effect on consumer preferences. With these themes, it reveals the negative effects of the pandemic on food and beverage businesses in general. Businesses are experiencing great economic difficulties. However, supply problems arise for many products. Changing consumer behavior with the pandemic has caused businesses to change their menus and made takeaway service compulsory. Innovation, such as package service, ordering from the website, which businesses receive especially during periods of curfews, is important steps in keeping pace with the future, while practices such as layoffs, mandatory permits, are leading tok the loss of experienced workforce in tehi industry. As a matter of fakta, 3 of the businesses that were interviewed were closed due to the inadequacy of the measures taken and the persistence of the pandemic for longer than expected.
