Highly transparent (100 - x)V2O5.xTiO(2) films With properties superior to vanadium oxide were formed. The coating solutions were prepared by reacting vanadium tri-isopropoxide oxide and titanium tetra-isopropoxide as precursors and anhydrous isopropanol as solvent. The films were formed on transparent conducting substrates by a dip coating technique and heat treated at 300 degrees C for 1 h. The films were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, optical spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy +/- SEM, and X-ray diffractometer (XRD). XRD results show that the films heat treated at temperatures below 400 degrees C were amorphous. The electrochemical lithium insertion shows that (100 - x)V2O5.xTiO(2) films exhibited good recharge ability of Li+/e(-) insertion/extraction process. Spectroelectrochemical measurements from 300 to 800 nm show that (100 - x)V2O5;O-5.xTiO(2) films exhibit weak cathodic coloration in the near uv and weak anodic coloration from 500 to 800 nm. It was observed that the addition of titanium resulted in marked improvement in the electrochromic behavior. This was especially seen for vanadium pentoxide doped with 5 mole % titanium. Instead of both types of evaluation models, to be proactive, the evaluation of training mentioned in this research is focused on how training affects individuals. To this end, in this thesis the factors affecting to the training effectiveness were examined in regard of trainee perspectives. According to the research results, it is revealed that mostly related to the training effectiveness are respectively: trainer's consideration of employees' learning styles, employees motivation to attend the training, employee's organizational affective commitment and employee's belief that the training will add value to his/her career.Publication Metadata only Academic Achievement and Psychologial Stress:Evidence From Turkey(INT SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE SGEM, 14, KILMENT OHRIDSKY BLVD, SOFIA, 1797, BULGARIA, 2008) Dede, Nazan; Özer, Aslıhan; Yıldırım, Osman; TR13907The topics of stress and academic achievement are becoming increasingly interesting to educational institutions and their members. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between personality and academic achievement of the Students of Vocational school in a private University in Istanbul, Turkey. There is a significant correlation between the students' personalities which are depicted via adjective checklist and the students' stress level assessed by Abidin's Stress Scale. Adjective Check List (ACL) items consist of adjectives which are words and/or phrases used for description in daily life in Turkish Language. The original ACL was built by 230 items. By using factor analysis, 230 items were reduced to 100 items. The scale composed of 100 items is examined for psychometric properties and internal consistency. Abidin's Stress Scale and ACL are conducted in the same time to a sample of 425 Students of School of Vocational Studies. Stress level and personality correlates of ACL are of interest on two Counts. First, in using the ACL it is important to know what variables may be confounded with mood. Second, there exist correlations between personality and mood.Publication Metadata only Electromagnetic Waves and Material Properties(2009) Yıldırım, Osman; Balta, TorehanThe standard impedance condition is the simplest way of simulating the material properties of a planar surface. This method is only accurate if the coating is very thin or lossy. To improve the accuracy, generalized impedance conditions can be used to simulate the material properties of a planar surface. The accurate solution of a scattering problem via planar slab depends on its thickness, the wavelength of incident wave, and material properties of the slab. Since boundary condition is local in character, accuracy decreases when the slab is illuminated at near grazing angle. Accuracy also decreases if the slab has a curved shape. To increase accuracy or provide a better simulation of the material, we have to search for alternative conditions. In this study, the Taylor series method is applied to a planar slab. This method gives reasonable solution even if slab has a curved shape. Power reflection and transmission coefficients are depicted versus different impedance and observation angles.Publication Metadata only A Visual Basic Software For Computing of the One Dimensional Heat Equation by Using B Spline Solution(2009-07) Çağlar, Hikmet; Çağlar, Nazan; Özer, Mehmet; CUHACI, LEVENT; 112369Microsoft Visual Basic® has been used for developing a software for the one- dimensional heat equation. We have solved the equation by means of a computer and developed user-friendly software with a graphical user interface. The numerical solution of the equation is visually illustrated. The software does not require familiarity with any new environment and is highly flexible; it can also easily be adapted to other experimental methods.Publication Metadata only Veri Tabanlı Pazarlamanın Kullanım Amaçları: İstanbul’daki 5 Yıldızlı Otel İşletmeleri Üzerinde Bir Araştırma(2010) Tuna, Pelin Fatma; Özkul, Emrah; Çelik, Sedat; 264865; 126660; 20499Publication Metadata only The impact Of Ecological Tourism On Local Economies, Ecological Agriculture Farms In Turkey(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 14, Kilment Ohridsky Blvd, Sofia, 1797, Bulgaria, 2010) Özgan, Burcu BesteTourism sector provides employment to the 7% of workers in the world. It becomes a very important "export" opportunity in the countries where the level of income is low. Besides the benefits of tourism activities in local cultures and eco-systems. it also has irrecoverable negative effects. However, new opportunities provided by "alternative tourism" change this situation. Interests to travels having minimum negative effects on current natural and cultural richness and which are satisfactory in terms of educational and economic. are increasing gradually. ECEAT (European Center for Eco Agro Tourism) established as a foundation for the purpose of supporting the sustainable tourism in 1993, aims to assist to the farmers struggling in the small areas by bringing the people engaged in agriculture in natural condition in rural areas into action. In this study, the farms, camps, guest houses and small hotels operating in this sector in Turkey and members of ECEAT have been analyzed. Consequently, it is revealed that contribution of eco-tourism improving annually at the rate of between 10-50% to both Turkish economy and local economies is an important income resource in terms of promotion of our developing country and the economic value it is carrying. Based on this result, it is proved that tourism sector which has come up as a sector destroying the nature so far, may become a fundamental mean in the protection of nature when eco tourism is performed and managed in a good manner.Publication Metadata only The Effect Of Deceptive Advertising On Consumer Behaviors: A Research Gsm Sector(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 14, Kilment Ohridsky Blvd, Sofia, 1797, Bulgaria, 2010) Çelik, Evren; TR141892As it is well-known, deceptive advertising has effects on consumer behaviors. This deceptive advertising ads are misleading the consumer perceptions by using demographic characteristics of consumers. They show behavioral differences that have been revealed in various literature researches. The internet and other technological tools can be used to convince the consumers. Young consumers compares competing products or services, investigate them in detail, and then intend to buy them. This research is based on the ways of misleading ads regarding products or services. In other words, research is based on how consumers will create a reaction to the product-related ads giving information. In our research we analyze the young and educated consumer profile, technological monitoring and brand loyalty of people. As it can be noted that products, services and brands ads convince people much easier to give up to texture. Face to face in our work with pre- and post-tests will also support the forming the survey.Publication Metadata only Electromagnetic Properties Of Materials And Some Prediction Remarks(Incdtp-Icpi, Ion Minulescu 93, 3Rd Sector, Bucharest, 031215, Romania, 2010) Yıldırım, Osman; TR13907Nondestructive techniques by using electromagnetic waves in many disciplines such as agriculture, engineering geology, material sciences and so on, are very important regarding predictions. As it is well-known, material properties can be determined by using electromagnetic waves. The scattering of electromagnetic waves due to physical and geometrical discontinuity is creating surface waves which are still dominant in prediction of material properties. A dielectric sheet on the ground plane will act as a guiding structure for surface waves. Matching the magnetic and electric field components across the air-dielectric boundary gives surface wave modes. Surface waves and related currents may be analyzed by using Wiener-Hopf technique. One of the components of the scattered field is the surface wave, propagating along the air-ground interface. Wiener-Hopf showed that a certain singular integral equation could be solved exactly using the theory of Complex Fourier transforms and functions of a complex variable. This method of solution is known as the Wiener-Hopf technique. In order to explain electromagnetic wave scattering, we have to find the solution of Maxwel equations by using boundary or mixed boundary conditions. Wiener-Hopf technique is very important tool in the solution of scattering problems having special geometrical structures. Wiener-Hopf geometries (half plane, cylinder, strip geometry, step discontinuity, double step discontinuity or strip with thickness) and related solution methods under Wiener-Hopf analysis have been studied.Publication Metadata only Scattering Of Electromagnetic Waves And Prediction Remarks Regarding Mining(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 14, Kilment Ohridsky Blvd, Sofia, 1797, Bulgaria, 2010) Yıldırım, Osman; TR13907A number of scattering and diffraction problems concerning semi infinite wave guides have been solved by many authors and for many years. Theoretical analysis of electromagnetic wave scattering and diffraction problems has been investigated extensively with regard to a number of scatterers which have physical and geometrical discontinuities. As is well-known, Sommerfeld introduced the exact solutions to the diffraction by a wedge by defining the idea of multiple-valued functions. His method is known as the Sommerfeld theory of diffraction which is commonly defined for diffraction by Wedge-Shaped obstacles. Wiener-Hopf showed that a certain singular integral equation could be solved exactly using the theory of Complex Fourier transforms and functions of a complex variable. This method of solution is known as the Wiener-Hopf technique. Multiple diffraction of electromagnetic waves due to physical and geometrical discontinuity is creating surface waves which are still dominant in communication phenomena. Surface waves and related currents are analyzed by using Wiener-Hopf technique in detail.Publication Metadata only The students' perceptions about their field at school of vocational sciences(Int Scientific Conference SGEM, 14, Kilment Ohridsky Blvd, Sofia, 1797, Bulgaria, 2010) Kahvecioğlu, Habibe; Yıldırım, Osman; 48626As it is well-known, students' vocational choice and students' personally types are very important regarding of the effectiveness of academic programs. This research aims at clarifying the relation between students' personality types and their choices by using students' perceptions. The research has been conducted on 352 students attending at School of Vocational Studies. According to the research findings, there are strong relationships between students' personality types and their choices. Based on The Five Factor Model, Inventory is an evaluation tool which is improved according to the Turkish culture. Validity and reliability analysis (dimensional self consistency cofactors vary between 0,71 and 0,88; test repeat cofactors vary between 0,83 and 0,91) show that inventory consists strong psychometric features. The results obtained from inventory were evaluated by using raw points and not norm points. In the short version of the Inventory only the five dimensions (openness for experience, responsibility consciousness, being extrovert, compatibleness, emotional balance) of the character are evaluated using total 25 attributes. The answers for the attitudes are classified in Likert scale 5. If the answers are totally suitable the grade given is 5, if totally not suitable the grade given is 1.Publication Metadata only Social Skills Via Emotional intelligence: Language Learning(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 14, Kilment Ohridsky Blvd, Sofia, 1797, Bulgaria, 2010) Yıldırım, Osman; TR13907The aim of this essay to draw an outline of the effect of various types of intelligence, paying particular attention to the concept of so called "Emotional Intelligence" with a language teacher's perspective. Throughout the essay it is aimed to create an awareness of different intelligence capacity of each individual learner in an ideal language teaching environment. While doing this literature on the area has been scanned and case studies have been performed on learners of various cultural and geographical backgrounds. In literature, many quantitative findings indicate that there is a significant relationship between academic achievement and emotional intelligence skills. The importance of understanding Emotional intelligence (El) skills and social intelligence (SI) has gravitated form the business management to training activities. This study aimed at exploring the impact of social intelligence and emotional intelligence on the language learning. To this end, a research has been conducted on the students of vocational school (n=280) of two private vocational schools in Istanbul. In the research, participants emotional intelligence was assessed by the Emotional Competence Inventory (ECI, 2nd Version) developed by Boyatzis and Goleman and the Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA-scale) proposed by Hjemdal, Friborg, Martinussen, and Rosenvinge. According to the results, a strong relationship was revealed among emotional intelligence, social intelligence and language learning.Publication Metadata only The Impact Of Social Intelligence On Academic Achievement Of Students Studying Media(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 14, Kilment Ohridsky Blvd, Sofia, 1797, Bulgaria, 2010) Tanakıncı, Orhan; Yıldırım, Osman; TR227408; TR13907The importance of understanding Social Intelligence (SI) skills has gravitated form the business management to training activities. Social intelligence skills that students have affect the academic performance of the students. This study aimed at exploring the relationship between one of those well-known concepts, job satisfaction, and emotional intelligence. To this end, a research has been conducted on the students who are attending at school of vocational studies (n=150) of a private university in Istanbul.
