Publication A General Look At The Environment And Environmental Problems In Tourism(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 14, Kilment Ohridsky Blvd, Sofia, 1797, Bulgaria, 2011) Yazıcı, Hacer Neyir; TR113404In literature, environment is mentioned as "the whole nature and examples of human-made structures in the nature together with human beings and all other living beings". Environment is the atmosphere or conditions in which an organism exists and it is an atmosphere that existed with the first living being on earth. Environment is the physical, biological, social, economic and cultural atmosphere where people and other living beings lead their lives and interact with one another. Human life is built on various balances. Breaks that occur in the links that form the natural balance which people establish with their nature affect the whole chain, lead to defects in this balance and cause environmental problems. Basic environmental problems that people face can be summarized as follows: Increasing pollution of the air, water and earth and an important part of them becoming unusable, big cities' and industrial areas' becoming impossible places to live in due to environmental pollution, ozone layer depletion, increasing global warming, increase in cancer and similar diseases, fast consumption of natural resources, etc. Although. the developing industrial sector is shown as the primary perpetrator of environmental problems, tourism, which is referred to as the industry without a chimney, also affects the environment negatively. Tourism, which is closely related to the environment in terms of its sustainability, generally seeks after short term benefits during the marketing of resources and it can harm these resources - which are its raw material. Tourism, which is the user, not the protector, of tourism in its development process, caused concerns about the environment since it helps economic development in developing and underdeveloped countries including Turkey. In this study, environment and environmental problems arising out of tourism will be touched upon, the problems caused on tourism by environmental problems will also be analyzed and the tourism dimension of environment and its problems will be reflected in the study with an extensive literature study.Publication A Neuro-Detector Based On The Cybernetic Concepts For Fault Detection In Electric Motors(Journal Vibroengineering, Geliu Ratas 15 A, Kaunas, Lt-50282, Lithuania, 2011-12) Şeker, Serhat; Önal, Emel; Kaynaş, Tayfun; Akıncı, Tahir Çetin; TR7480; TR149517; TR141423; TR40367In this study, an auto-associative neural network (AANN) is designed as a fault detector using the cybernetic concepts. In this sense, an artificial neural network structure is connected with a finite state system or a finite automata and an AANN topology is described as a virtual detector. In terms of the practical application, vibration signals, which are taken from an induction motor of 5 HP for both the healthy and faulty motor cases, are considered in the spectral domain. The vibration signal presented in the healthy motor case is separated into 4 blocks and the spectral set of these blocks is used as input and target pattern sets during the training of the AANN. After the training process, a new vibration spectrum, which is defined in the faulty motor case is applied to this trained network and the faulty case is determined by the error variation at output nodes of the AANN. In this application, the error signal shows huge amplitudes between 2 and 4 kHz as an indicator of the bearing damage.Publication A Visual Basic Software For Computing of the One Dimensional Heat Equation by Using B Spline Solution(2009-07) Çağlar, Hikmet; Çağlar, Nazan; Özer, Mehmet; CUHACI, LEVENT; 112369Microsoft Visual Basic® has been used for developing a software for the one- dimensional heat equation. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between personality and academic achievement of the Students of Vocational school in a private University in Istanbul, Turkey. There is a significant correlation between the students' personalities which are depicted via adjective checklist and the students' stress level assessed by Abidin's Stress Scale. Adjective Check List (ACL) items consist of adjectives which are words and/or phrases used for description in daily life in Turkish Language. The original ACL was built by 230 items. By using factor analysis, 230 items were reduced to 100 items. The scale composed of 100 items is examined for psychometric properties and internal consistency. Abidin's Stress Scale and ACL are conducted in the same time to a sample of 425 Students of School of Vocational Studies. Stress level and personality correlates of ACL are of interest on two Counts. First, in using the ACL it is important to know what variables may be confounded with mood. Second, there exist correlations between personality and mood.Publication Analysis of The Program Titled ‘‘Mr.Gadgets’’ In The Contex of The Effects of Today’s Media Productions on Development for Early Childhood(2018-06) Sansarcı, Emin; Bayram Tuncay, Eylem; 20382Psychology is also dejined as the science of mind so it can prove that it is so important to observe and read the artist' state of mind as a sum of his life experiences and the view of life during the creation of work. For this reason, the most basic requirements for the correct reading of art works can be organized as; the information about the life of the artist who created the art, the spiritual process es of the artist and the style of the artist. This work aims to reveal the relationship between psychology and works of art that can be deseribed as one of the essence and most concrete rejlections of the human saul. To rejlect psychology, which is rejlected in works of art in many different disciplines, with the most obvious examples to the work within the limitations of working; Vincent Van Gogh, the forerunner of the expressionism movement in the art of painting, and his seven works can be summarized as the analysis of the artist' emotional state rejlected in these works. Expressionism is that the artist rejlects the subject by adding his/her emotions on the work. Bipolar disorder is a mental illness that is at the extremities of the depression at the moment of mania, which is seen with the exacerbations and calm-ability. Vincent Van Gogh 's emotional state and how these rise andfalls were rejlected to his work were examined by the letters he wrote to his brother Theo for seventeen years. The examination shows that he science ofpsychology is required to be added to the materials required for the correct readability of the artworks, as well. This also shows that the relationship between psychology and artistic work is worth for being examined. The works selectedfor analysis of the studyare: Stil! Life with Open Bible, Extunguished Candie and Novel, Sarrow, Selj-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat, Selj-Portrait with Strow Hat, Cafe Terrace at Night, The Night Cafe, Daubigny's Garden.Publication Attitudes of citizens of the United States, the Unidet Kingdom, and Turkey in permits requested by mobile apps(2020-02) Öçlü, BurakLearning Overview: After attending this presentation, attendees will be able to understand the relationship between risk, privacy and mobile risk attitudes of citizens of different countries and interpret this in terms of mobile application permissions. Impact on the Forensic Science Community: This presentation will impact, the forensic science community by informing about the difference between attitudes in daily life and the actual situation that occur according to the data security risks that may arise. How to secure this information has become an important problem as application-maker firms have increased their access to personal data. In this context, our research aims to establish the relationship between risk, privacy and mobile risk attitudes of people living in different countries. For the purpose, a survey of 26 questions was conducted for citizens living in the USA, UK and Turkey, provided that there were 150 people from each country (in total 450 people). Surveys of their native languages were conducted for participants in all countries. The survey consists of multiple-choice questions with questions consisting of a Likert scale of 5s. Hypotheses are " HOa: there is no relationship between the risk attitude and the privacy attitude.” and “HOb: there is no relationship between the privacy attitude and mobile risk attitude." and "HOc: there is no relationship between risk attitude and mobile risk attitude." in the study. Within the scope of this research, “HOa” and “HOb” rejected and strong positive relationship in the USA, weak positive relationship in the UK and moderate positive relationship in Turkey were identified. “HOc” also rejected and found that a moderate positive relationship in the USA and UK and a weak positive relationship in Turkey. Participants were asked which of the 9 different types of mobile application permission request options they would not want to grant access to. As a result of the research, the most unwanted permission to be given in the US was “location information” and “access to SMS records” in the UK and “phone call records” in Turkey. According to the results of the research, 55.33, 48, 87.39 percent of respondents in the USA, UK and Turkey stated that they are using Instagram application, while respectively 54.21, 68.05, 46.56 percent of users have declared that they will not allow downloads for the application if they see the permissions requested by the application without specifying the application name. Respectively, 19.33, 70, 95.30 percent of respondents in the USA, UK and Turkey stated that they are using the WhatsApp app, while respectively 34.48, 63.80 and 46.85 percent declared that they would not download the app with current permission. Respectively, 28.67, 39.33, 22 percent of respondents in the USA, UK and Turkey stated that they are using the Spotify app, while respectively 55.81, 55.93 and 42.42 percent declared that they would not download the app with current permission. Although the real estate application is different in each country, respectively 12, 10, 16 percent of the respondents in the USA, UK, Turkey said they are using the real estate application, while respectively 50, 80, 70.80 percent of these users have declared that they will not download the current permissions When the results are examined, all hypotheses are accepted for all countries and it means that there was a positive relationship between “risk, privacy and mobile risk attitude”. In addition, the permissions that the participants do not want to allow are different in the countries. In comparison to the already downloaded applications and declarations against the permits requested without naming the application, it is understood that citizens living in the UK are more likely to avoid taking risks than citizens living in the United States and Turkey. It has also emerged as an important finding of denial of application permit request at a high rate seen in all countries. Because people avoid reading individual permissions and because the requested permissions become routine after a certain period of time, differences can arise during the course of the activities with the risk attitudes of people in daily life. This can lead to questions about the sharing and protection of personal information.Publication Blockchain's roles in enhancing supply chain objectives and transportation efficiency(2019) Kırbaç, Gökhan; 123816; 121399Logisties serviees often play a key role in a firm 's ability to deliver eustomer value. Ceramic materials are often used in the industry especially as kitchenware of in areas such as construction sector. Many different methods are used in the quality assurance processes of ceramic materials. In this study, impact noise method is examined. This method is a test technique which is not used in the applications. The method is presented as an examination technique based on whether there is a deformation on the material according to the sound coming from the ceramic material as a result of a plastic bit hammer impact on the ceramic material. The application of the study is performed on plates made of ceramic materials. Ceramic double plates, made up of same materials, with same features, but in different models, are used therein. One of these ceramic double plates, both of which are completely in kind, is intact, and the other is cracked. Impulse noises, having arisen from the equal impulse power applied on these intact and cracked plates of same model were examined via wavelet analysis. By means of the applied method, it is seen to have shown significant results in distinguishing intact and cracked plates. Having the frequency and magnitude dimensions of the damages on the plates also examined by means of the applied analysis, significant distinguishing findings are attained therefrom.Publication Electrochromic Properties of Sol-gel Deposited Ti-doped Vanadium Oxide Film(ELSEVIER SCIENCE SA, PO BOX 564, 1001 LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND, 1999-01) Özer, Nilgün; Sabuncu, SevsenTitanium-doped vanadium pentoxide, (100 - x)V2O5.xTiO(2) films with compositions ranging from 0 to 20 mole % titanium were prepared by using sol-gel dip coating techniques. Highly transparent (100 - x)V2O5.xTiO(2) films With properties superior to vanadium oxide were formed. The coating solutions were prepared by reacting vanadium tri-isopropoxide oxide and titanium tetra-isopropoxide as precursors and anhydrous isopropanol as solvent. The films were formed on transparent conducting substrates by a dip coating technique and heat treated at 300 degrees C for 1 h. The films were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, optical spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy +/- SEM, and X-ray diffractometer (XRD). XRD results show that the films heat treated at temperatures below 400 degrees C were amorphous. The electrochemical lithium insertion shows that (100 - x)V2O5.xTiO(2) films exhibited good recharge ability of Li+/e(-) insertion/extraction process. Spectroelectrochemical measurements from 300 to 800 nm show that (100 - x)V2O5;O-5.xTiO(2) films exhibit weak cathodic coloration in the near uv and weak anodic coloration from 500 to 800 nm. It was observed that the addition of titanium resulted in marked improvement in the electrochromic behavior. This was especially seen for vanadium pentoxide doped with 5 mole % titanium. As it is well-known, material properties can be determined by using electromagnetic waves. The scattering of electromagnetic waves due to physical and geometrical discontinuity is creating surface waves which are still dominant in prediction of material properties. A dielectric sheet on the ground plane will act as a guiding structure for surface waves. Matching the magnetic and electric field components across the air-dielectric boundary gives surface wave modes. In this research, beam wave scattering from planar surfaces is analyzed by including a comparison to the electromagnetic waves.Publication Electromagnetic Crane Design Considerations in Mining(Stef92 Technology Ltd, 1 Andrey Lyapchev Blvd, Sofia, 1797, Bulgaria, 2012-06) Yıldırım, Osman; Bahadır, Ali; 13907; 29284This research aimed at designing electromagnetic crane used for carrying ferromagnetic material from one place to another place without creating damage and by saving employement. Surface waves and related currents may be analyzed by using Wiener-Hopf technique. One of the components of the scattered field is the surface wave, propagating along the air-ground interface. Wiener-Hopf showed that a certain singular integral equation could be solved exactly using the theory of Complex Fourier transforms and functions of a complex variable. This method of solution is known as the Wiener-Hopf technique. In order to explain electromagnetic wave scattering, we have to find the solution of Maxwel equations by using boundary or mixed boundary conditions. Wiener-Hopf technique is very important tool in the solution of scattering problems having special geometrical structures. Wiener-Hopf geometries (half plane, cylinder, strip geometry, step discontinuity, double step discontinuity or strip with thickness) and related solution methods under Wiener-Hopf analysis have been studied.Publication Electromagnetic Waves and Material Properties(2009) Yıldırım, Osman; Balta, TorehanThe standard impedance condition is the simplest way of simulating the material properties of a planar surface. This method is only accurate if the coating is very thin or lossy. To improve the accuracy, generalized impedance conditions can be used to simulate the material properties of a planar surface. The accurate solution of a scattering problem via planar slab depends on its thickness, the wavelength of incident wave, and material properties of the slab. Since boundary condition is local in character, accuracy decreases when the slab is illuminated at near grazing angle. Accuracy also decreases if the slab has a curved shape. To increase accuracy or provide a better simulation of the material, we have to search for alternative conditions. In this study, the Taylor series method is applied to a planar slab. This method gives reasonable solution even if slab has a curved shape. Power reflection and transmission coefficients are depicted versus different impedance and observation angles.Publication Evaluation of dose distribution of an extremity irradiation with and without water bolus(Radiotherapy Oncology, Journal of The European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, 1998-09) Çetingöz, R.; Tekin, Murat; Tunçel, N.; Tanrıver, Y.; Ataman, Ö.; Şen, M.; Kınay, M.; 107192Publication Internet usage among the students of vocational studies(Int Scientific Conference SGEM, 14, Kilment Ohridsky Blvd, Sofia, 1797, Bulgaria, 2010) Duzcu, Tuba; Yıldırım, OsmanAs a growing trend in the world, internet-based research occupies our daily life of people. A conceptualApproach(2015) Safran, BarışIn this study, in the light of knowledge and management concepts is intended to answer the question of the conditions under which information can be managed. Therefore, unlike the first insights behind the different definitions of the concept with emphasis on the concept of knowledge management are grouped under three main headings. The first of these approaches, knowledge management basically considers the problems associated with information technology as a computer network. Other approache is based on the employees how to work and know what is being done through the creation and collection of this information, storage, dissemination and adaptation, knowledge management. According to last approach is that the information management issues which an human resource that focuses more on organizational culture and teamwork. Secondly, examining the debate is not being managed or managed to draw attention to the paradox between information and knowledge management concepts. Although concept of knowledge management used very extensively, the knowledge by investigating what is actually managed is focused on the circumstances in which the problem can be managed. Knowledge management refers to the management information when it receives the focus, it may cause unnecessary non-productive use of information technology also made to several investment. Whereas management is related to the management of people.Publication Leadership in Crisis Management: Separation of Leadership and Executive Concepts(Elsevier Science Bv, Sara Burgerhartstraat 25, Po Box 211, 1000 AE Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2015-05-30) Fener, Tuğba; Çevik, Tuğçe; 141799; 107991Crisis is the truth of today's fast paced business world. Rapid organizational change, changing economic conditions, problems of personnel, unexpected technological changes and political effects cause instability on today's business world. This instability appears out of state control as economic disruptions that result in crisis. Crisis affecting our country and all other countries in the world also influences not only vacated people but also other individuals who concerns about losing their jobs. This economic uncertainty seemingly interests corporations. However environment is also one of the factors that affects crisis. If crisis isn't brought under control or managed properly, it will come about and create chain crisis. Because of the increasing chaos, change from authoritarian leadership through teamwork and participative management mentality has been observed. Commerce has been getting more and more complicated and complex. These changes have transformed traditional crisis leaders to a leader model that makes scenario analysis and work done co-ordinately with a team by gathering lots of different point of view to create optimum solution. Leadership and crisis concepts are discussed together in order that implementation of leadership in crisis can be understood. Crisis leadership is also regarded as optimally and timely assessment process of adverse condition's effects whatever its reason is. In the first section of this article which will be presented with extensive literature, general information about leadership concept from Total Quality Management principles and comparison of leader and executive concepts will be given. In the second section, leadership in crisis management will be mentioned and in the last section the importance of lead executive in crisis and its contribution to literature will be reviewed.
