Abstract

This study, which consists of three parts, explains the definition of financial literacy, the basic economic concepts that a financial literate should know, and the relationship between the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey analytical balance sheet and these basic concepts. In the first chapter, it has been tried to explain what financial literacy means, its elements, importance, development and what are the basic macroeconomic data that a financial literate should know and follow. In the second part, what central banking is, the historical development of the central bank in Turkey and the structure and duties of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey are explained. In order to follow the monetary policies implemented by the central bank and to provide information and clues to the market about the general state of the economy, the functioning of the asset and liability accounts of the central bank's analytical balance sheet is mentioned. Finally, in the third part, the monetary policy instruments and strategies of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey were defined and their reflections on the analytical balance sheet were emphasized. By comparing the analytical balance sheet figures on the first day and the last day of 2022, it has been tried to benefit from the clues that it can give us about the developments and policies in the market at the level of financial literacy.
