Publication Embargo Addressing Environmental Design in Interior Architecture Education : Reflections On The Interior Design Studio(Elsevier Science Bv, Sara Burgerhartstraat 25, Po Box 211, 1000 Ae Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2012) Garip, Banu; Garip, Ervin; 106178; 162379Today, the fluid and multi-layered structure of the environment demands design professions acquire a broader perspective in conjunction with a more expanded, cross-boundary knowledge and skills. This paper mainly concentrates on the structure of interior architectural studies and the significance of environmental design. The study presents a descriptive reading through the experiences in the interior design studio, and in this sense evaluates the outcomes within the educational process. The aim is to discuss the relationship between the interior/exterior or environment/building through the ideas created in the interior design studio. The key points are elucidated through examples of student work from two different interior architecture departments in Istanbul. The reflections upon developing the knowledge of "environmental consciousness" and establishing the dialogue between different scales of environment on student work are examined and discussed in the scope of this paper. A research was conducted to evaluate and compare the aesthetic evaluations of architecture and civil engineering students through selected architectural buildings. It is hypothesised that there would be a difference between the two groups' evaluations and descriptions of the visual attributes. Photographs of 6 different buildings were chosen which had different characteristics related with their structure, form and context; and a questionnaire was designed. 35 architecture and 30 civil engineering students were asked to describe the selected buildings. A "Visual Evaluation Test", which included photographs of the selected buildings was used within the questionnaire. Additionally, the participants were asked to rank 6 buildings due to their aesthetic preferences. Data was statistically analysed through semantic differential scales, and "Mann Whitney U Test". Results from the two groups of respondents had some similarities and differences. Despite the two different groups described the settings with similar adjectives, they gave different responses on choosing the buildings as "like" or "dislike". Besides, the two groups' responses to the questions which they ranked the buildings due to their aesthetic preferences differed substantially. In relation with the findings, the educational processes of two disciplines were discussed and some suggestions were given. (C) 2012 Published by Elsevier Ltd. According to recent research in Turkiye %56 of 1470 internet users with avarege age 23, has indicated they become victims of cyberbullying at least once in their lifetime. The results have shown that the issue of cyberbullying should be considered as a problem that should be investigated. In this study, cyberbullying scale had been given to the university students aged between 18-29. Also, Spielberger's Trait Anger&Anger Styles Scale and Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale had been given to examine the relationship between cyberbullying and aggression and social anxiety. Social anxiety and avoidance scores were significantly different between genders. The correlations between 10 indexes of cyberbullying behaviors and social anxiety scores together with anger (trait anger, anger-in, anger-out and anger control) scores were analyzed. Correlations were found between sending rude, vulgar or threating messages and anger-in scores, creating fake profile or web page statement and social anxiety, social avoidance, trait-anger and anger-out scores respectively, publishing photographs or videos of someone without consent and anger-in scores, sending online request for sexual relation statement and anger-out and anger control scores, hacking someone's web profile statement and anger-out and anger control scores, publishing fake statues or check-in notifications and anger-in and anger-out scores. Although these buildings generally cover all the functional requirements, quite often they are not able to face the psychological needs of patients and their companions. The research which is presented in this article focuses on the "perceptive memories" of companions, during their visits in the hospital. The main aim of the study is to describe the "visual characteristics" of the environment that helps the users to "know" the building and affect the "legibility". The case study was carried out in one of the largest public hospitals in Istanbul, the CAPA Clinical Faculty, which has a distinctive architectural form. The symmetrical plans of the building provided an opportunity to compare data gathered from the different departments of the hospital which have very similar configurations but different wall colours, signage systems, functions, lighting design, floor coverings and landmarks. 41 participants were engaged in a questionnaire task, which contained open-ended questions, and photographs taken from similar points and presented the same perspectives that were chosen on purpose. The participants were asked to choose their departments from the picture boards and explain the reason for their choice by describing the physical characteristics of the environment. In the literature, these mentioned points are called "choice points", places where people get information from the environment and make decisions about their movements. As a result of the study, the analysis of the data provided support that people need environmental cues for describing and knowing their environment. The results essentially present the fact that legibility decreases in conditions in which there are fewer environmental cues. The research also suggests that the time spent in the hospital plays a significant role in the task performance. People who spent more time in the hospital tended to use different descriptive words from others. One of the most significant purposes of architectural design is to create environments in which users are psychologically satisfied with the human-environment interaction system. It is essential that the organization of the physical environment satisfies peoples. psychological needs, particularly in public places such as hospital buildings, where people don't have time and energy to waste. The aim of the study is to analyze the common and distinct parameters of affective picture perception in block and random designs by means of analysis of high frequency oscillatory dynamics (beta and gamma). EEG of 22 healthy subjects was recorded at 32 locations. The participants passively viewed 120 emotional pictures (10 x 4 unpleasant, 10 x 4 pleasant, 10 x 4 neutral) in block and random designs. The phase-locking and power of event related beta (14-28 Hz) and gamma (29-48 Hz) oscillations were analyzed for two different time windows (0-200 ms/200-400 ms). Statistical analysis showed that in the 0-200 ms time window, during the block design, unpleasant stimulation elicited higher beta phase-locking and beta power than the pleasant and neutral stimulation (p<0.05). In the 200-400 ms time window, during the block design, over occipital electrodes unpleasant stimulation elicited higher gamma response power than the pleasant stimulation and neutral stimulation (p<0.05). Unpleasant stimulation did not elicit higher beta or gamma responses in the random design. The present study showed that experimental design highly influences the perception of IAPS pictures. Unpleasant stimulation elicited higher event related beta and gamma phase-locking and power only in block design but not in random design. It seems that longer blocks of aversive pictures affect the brain more than the rapid observation of these pictures. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. Constructivist instructors' main concern is providing the learners with learning environments in which they can engage in meaningful interactions. So, classrooms should be designed in such a way that the learners interpret and construct meaning based on their own experiences. Creation of rich learning environments via available technologies supporting constructivist learning platforms can be achieved through employing instructional strategies apt to the contextual variables. Teachers' new role is integrating technology into the curriculum so that learners build on their own experiences, construct their own meanings, create products, and solve problems successfully. The Personal Information Form, The Dyadic Adjustment Scale, Five Factor Personality Inventory (Short Form), The Resilience Scale, The Scale of Separation-Individuation and Perceived Parental Attitudes - Mother and Father Forms have been carried out on the sampling group of 135 couples living in Istanbul. As a result of the research, there is positively significant relation between extraversion, openness to experience and marital adjustment in both men and women. Neuroticism and marital adjustment is related negatively for both genders. The agreeableness is related positively with marital adjustment only for men. As the resilience of both women and men increases, the marital adjustment also increases. The marital adjustment level decreases when both women and men fail to practice separation-individuation successfully. The marital adjustment levels of the men gets higher when they perceive that there autonomy is supported by their mothers. The marital adjustment levels of the men decreases when they perceive that they are kept under control psychologically by their mothers. Similarly, the marital adjustment levels of the men decreases when they perceive that they are kept under control psychologically by their fathers. The marital adjustment levels of the men increases more when they perceive that their autonomy is supported by their fathers and their fathers are more sensitive, tender and concerned. It is found out that there is no relation between the parental attitudes the women from the sampling group perceived from their mothers and the marital adjustment. Also the marital adjustment levels of the women increases more when they perceive that their fathers are more sensitive, tender and concerned and their autonomy is supported by their fathers. The marital adjustment levels of the women decreases who perceive that their fathers have a manipulative and compulsive control. (C) 2014 The Authors. In this rapid increase, the right data access and integration has become a challenge. Since 93% of internet traffic is managed by search engines, exploring the potential of search engines is crucial. This figure is not just a statistical outcome, instead it shows the critical role of search engines on routing users to the right websites. Due to the important effects of search engines, search results are getting more crucial for websites to compete with other rivals. The most important part of defeating other rivals is optimization of search engines. After this optimization, website owners expect that the search engine results display their website first, before other websites. The focus of this study is to scientifically justify the importance of search engines and search engine optimization (SEO). More specifically, the main focus was to measure the significance of time, speed, reduced bounce rate, page views, and page layout in keeping the user on the site. Finally, considering the inclusion of SEO factors on an experimental project and how these factors results in a positive effect on websites are explained in great detail.
