Abstract
The effect of daylighting on climatic comfort and the performance of transparent surfaces against solar radiation make daylighting design an integrated work product. Through transparent surfaces, we have a seamless connection between the interior and the external environment, and we get the sunshine in the interior. Heat loss and gains encountered during this process, excessive contrast between luminance ratios and glare problems are the issues that should be considered, and solved together with daylight design. In this case, mass and facade design play a key role in treating daylight as a design element. A daylighting system designed with the right strategies is climate sensitive, provides comfort conditions and high performance in terms of energy performance. The use of daylight in design is not difficult, but it requires the integration and optimization of many factors from a holistic point of view in terms of user comfort and energy management. In this study, the effects of design criteria which are controlled by architects, on climatic and visual comfort conditions and the thermal and artificial lighting loads of the buildings are have been tried to explain through the building orientation, geometry, daylight strategies, transparent surfaces, physical properties of the volume.
