İki Popüler Mit Kahramanının Karşılaştırılması: Neo ve Battal Gazi

Abstract

This study observes that characteristics of myth hero changes according to time and the society it emerges in. The research is done by studying selected films which are presumed to represent a poplar mythology of their time. The methodology will be mythological and psychological analysis. Our thesis is, Neo of The Matrix movie, who has largely seen as a postmodern Hercules, will be transformed into a different from in Turkish popular culture: Battal Gazi. As Ancient Hercules become Deli Dumrul and Odysseus become Basat in Dede Korkut tales, a similar scheme can be observed in between Neo and Battal.
