Abstract

The roles we play as a part of social life gradually become internalised until they become part of the self- the personalitiy. Bandura argued that imitation and modelling are important social-learning processes, by which we are able to pick up the whole patterns of social actions and appropriate role behaviour. In one famous study of Zimbardo(1973). Which showed the importance of social-learning. Oliver Hirscbiegel film "Das Experiment" is the same as Zimbardo's famous experiment but more exaggerated. The people who were acting the role of guards and the prisoners had to become brutal. The guards behaved in this way not because of their personalities but because of the situation they were in and the roles they were playing.
