Abstract

Human being is the only living creature who is able to use his/her mind and transfer the culture he/she belongs to new generations. This characteristic of the human makes him/her different from the other living creatures. Thus, he/she is in a valuable, unique and special position. The way that all the people make use of while executing all their characteristics is communication. Communication is considered as a basic and indispensible element in the supply of the people?s needs and in the steps taken forwards to the future. It has been seen that human beings transfer their culture and civilization to the new generation by affecting each other, by gathering their efforts and struggles, by expressing their knowledge, emotions, and ideas by means of communication. Communication is a necessity for a person to know himself/herself, others, and his/her environment and to pursue his/her life. It is an indispensible fact of our lives. In this respect, it is possible to consider communication as a science of explanation and agreement among people. In our daily lives, we face with the inevitable reality of the fact that the frequently above-mentioned term of communication is not known and practiced in its real sense and is not pursued successfully. It can be observed that people are not good communicators as much as they believe or they are believed to be. However, communication is the must of human relations and the indispensible tool for pursuing our lives. Making good friendships, pursuing of successful family relations, achieving the occupational success, increase in the life quality, and the pursuing of social relations and communication in an effective way depend on the person?s having the ability of communication, being knowledgeable, caring and struggling about the subject matter being discussed. Biotechnology, which serves human beings, by changing the human and animal genes; the telecommunication by creating the virtual world and the popularculture by creating dreams have been changing all the values of human beings rapidly. People are not able to follow these rapid changes and becoming estranged towards themselves, their families, their environment and finally towards the society. Although he/she utilizes the communication technologies; the person becoming estranged towards himself/herself, his environment and the society in which he/she lives is not able to pursue the human relations effectively and experience various conflicts, discrepancies, pains, anger, and failures with himself/herself and among the people as he/she has not learnt or is not practicing the basics of human communication correctly. Human life is a process starting from the birth and this process includes training, education and all the practices which are carried on in the web of communication. The research carried out indicates that people?s success in their education is only possible by making use of all their senses and their level of memorization is possible to increase by people?s seeing, hearing, doing, living, and realization of the subject matter being discussed. Then, it seems impossible for the learner who is passive and who is taught by using traditional and rote learning to remember and practice the things he/she knows. The communication which has to be learnt, is also necessary for the interpersonal communication information. In this respect, the method of creative drama which is fed by many disciplines and which is an interdisciplinary teaching method and a field of art education is based on learning by doing by making use of the memory, the body and all the sensory organs. The requirement of being a human and taking part in a society as civilized individuals begins with creative thinking and with creating new designs. Hence, creative drama which develops continuously as an alternative method of education plays an important role in the new system of creative thinking and designs. As an aim of this study; interpersonal communication being the basis of the relations of the individuals forming the society and the origin of several problems, and creative drama method which makes learning by doing and living possible are examined in a general framework of a literature searched. Also, some practices have been carried out based on the understanding of the importance of interpersonal communication and the creative drama. As a result, the contribution of the creative drama courses, which have been carried out in all the faculties of education in all universities, to the students studying communication particularly is to be measured and in this way, it is argued whether creative drama courses cause differences or provide a new dimension in the act of learning. As it can be seen in the experimental study which was carried out for this thesis, it is obvious that the grounds that our thesis hypothesized are proved to be realistic concretely though the data was collected in a very short period of time.
