Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to investigate the possible factors (social cognition and need for thinking) effect metacognitive awareness as developmental with demographics variables such as gender and education process (emerging adults and young adults). A sample group of 443 persons who were different grade levels and age ranges 228 women and 215 men, between 19-29 years of age, who were selected as random sampling method from the Kültür University. In analyzing the data Independent Samples t Test, Correlation Analysis, one and two way ANOVA, Multi-Regression Analysis were used; according to Two-Way t Test at p < .05 significance level. According to the results of the research, a difference was found between women and men in favor of women in scores of metacognitive awareness. According to the results of one way ANOVA, there was no significant difference in total cognitive awareness scores between these 3 different groups of age. There was a significant negative relationship between the need for thinking and matecognitive awareness. The need for thinking has negative predictive effect on metacognitive awareness. The study is important that contributes to mind theory, social behavior - thinking and metacognitive researches as lifespend cognitive development studies.
