İstanbul Kumkapı, Telli Odalar Sokak'ta yaklaşık son yirmi yıllık (1994-2013) değişimin incelenmesi ve değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

It is possible to see the traces of different periods, when wandering in the streets of Historic Peninsula. Due to this stratification, a unique city like Istanbul has emeged. The effects of popular culture, transforming the appearance of cities completely, give harm to the social and cultural structures to be protected. Kumkapı, located within Historic Peninsula at the seaside of Marmara Sea, has this rich potential to be observed, presenting this multi-layer and multi-facet cultural background. The studies of this thesis is aim to raise awareness and to sustain the existing values. It is aimed to observe the changes, based on the analysis and research of the thesis of Pınar G. Özden with the title 'The Physical Environmental Study on Telli Odalar Street at Kumkapı' dated 1994, in comparison with the related analysis of 2013, then to evaluate, and finally to develop the conservation and rehabilitation proposals for the study area. The scope of this thesis is to document, to conserve the original characteristics, to develop and to sustain the existing historic environmental values of Kumkapı, which has many monumental and civilian buildings from Byzantine, Ottoman and Republican Periods. Within this context, the comparative analysis between 1994 and the existing situation, evaluation and proposal studies are realized.
