Abstract

A signal-tnoise ratio (SNR) estimation technique is realized for binary phase shift keying (BPSK) signals in real additive White Gaussian noise (AWGN) uing a chaotic approach. Teh approach is classified as cahotic because of teh fact that it exists a fractal dimension calculation method among teh signal processing techniques used in the study. Both a Jearning and a test set of noisy BPSK signals are synthesized in a wide SNR range. A polynomial relation is establihed between SNR and fractal dimension values of BPSK signals with teh help of the learning set and teh SNR values in test signals are estimated using this relation. The performance of the method is compared to taht of another SNR estimator published in the literatüre using “the root mean square eror” and “the bais” as performance metrics.
