dc.description	Cities live just like people. Cities are adapting to the geography where they exist in the structural context, and in the same way they live in harmony. When considered in this context, the theme of the study was determined as the evolution of the movie theaters in the city, based on the assumption that the movie theaters and the urban structure overlap each other. The research was carried out in Izmit, the central district of Kocaeli, on the grounds that movie theaters showed a build up parallel to the evolution of the city. The reason why the city of Izmit is handled in relation to the evolution of movie theaters is that it is close to Istanbul firstly and that the films coming to Istanbul can be watched. Nevertheless, it is one of the cities that has the fastest change due to natural disasters in the historical process. The earthquakes in Izmit have caused the change in the location of the films to be displayed by making new - instead of being destroyed - in the context of urbanization. The society has changed with the developing city structure and the movie theaters have renewed themselves with a parallel change. The so-called movie theaters, which were initially considered to be movie theaters, have taken place under the roof of commercial institutions called shopping centers with the modernizing city	tr_TR
dc.description.abstract	Kentler de tıpkı insanlar gibi yaşamaktadır. Kentler nasıl yapısal bağlamda var olduğu coğrafyaya uyum sağlıyorsa, aynı şekilde yaşadığı çağa da uyum sağlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda düşünüldüğünde çalışmanın konusu, sinema salonları ile kent yapısının birbirleriyle örtüşebileceği varsayımından yola çıkarak, sinema salonlarının kentte evrimi olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırma Kocaeli’nin merkez ilçesi olan İzmit’te, sinema salonlarının kentin evrimine paralel bir şekilde yapılaşma gösterdiği çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. İzmit kentinin sinema salonlarının evrimi ile ilgili olarak ele alınmasının nedeni, öncelikle İstanbul’a yakın olması ve bu sayede İstanbul’a gelen filmlerin izlenme olanağının bulunmasıdır. Bununla birlikte, tarihsel süreç içerisinde doğal afetler nedeniyle değişimi en hızlı yaşayan kentlerden biri olmasıdır. İzmit’te gerçekleşen depremler, kentleşme bağlamında yıkılanın yerine yenisinin –çağa uygun olanının- yapılmasıyla filmlerin hangi mekanlarda gösterileceğine dair değişimi de yaşamasına neden olmuştur. Gelişen kent yapısı ile birlikte toplum değişmiş ve sinema salonları da bu değişime paralel bir değişimle kendilerini yenilemiştir. Önceleri tek başına sinema salonu olarak adlandıracağımız yapılar modernleşen kentle birlikte alışveriş merkezleri adı verilen ticari kurumların çatısı altında yerini almıştır.	tr_TR
