Analyzing the Challenges to Adoption of Drones in the Logistics Sector Using the Best-Worst Method
(Adem Anbar, 2023) Çıkmak, Sinan; KIRBAÇ, GÖKHAN; Kesici, Buşra
Drones, which are unmanned aerial vehicles, are used in various areas. Some important worldwide companies have been interested to integrate drone technology into their logistics applications. Although the use of drones promises various advantages such as reducing costs and improving responsiveness in the logistics sector, there are also various challenges to the adoption of this technology. Therefore, this study aims to identify and prioritize the challenges to drone technology adoption in the logistics sector. Initially, 34 challenges under seven major dimensions for the study were identified by a thorough literature review and consultation with selected experts. Then, the best-worst method (BWM) is applied to rank these major challenges and associated sub-criteria. The results show that “terrorist attacks”, “lack of legal regulations”, “difficulty of flight permit processes”, “flight area limitation due to restrictive visual line of sight (VLOS)”, and “personal data protection” are the top five challenges that confront the logistics sector for adopting drone technology. The findings of this research will provide important insights to practitioners and researchers interested in new technologies that can be applied in the logistics sector.

Hospital Selection Factors For Private Doctors Concerning Their Surgery Operations Services: An Application Of Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP)
(Türk Kooperatifçilik Kurumu, 2021) ERGENÇ, ERKUT; KIRBAÇ, GÖKHAN
The Doctors, who work in their own private clinic, cooperate with hospitals to perform specific surgeryoperations. In the healthcare sector the competition among health institutions is increasing. Therefore, theselection of an appropriate hospital is an important decision problem for the private doctors. There is somedecision criterias used among private doctors to choose the hospitals to conduct medical operations (suchas surgery, delivery) for their patients are addressed within the context of ServQual service qualitydimensions. Besides, by using a Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) application, an examination ofthree hospitals in the Izmir province has been performed. This study has addressed the external stakeholderhospital choices of businesses that provide private clinic services before the Covid-19 Pandemic (before2020). As a result, the FAHP method was used in the final three hospitals. Private Doctors’ hospital choiceswere compared using the ServQual service quality dimensions, which included 10 different service qualityaspects.

Financial Performance Measurement of Logistics Companies Based on Entropy and Waspas Methods
(Melih Topaloğlu, 2021) Erdoğan, Hilal H.; KIRBAÇ, GÖKHAN
Purpose – The aim of this study is to measure financial performance of the logistics companies in the Fortune500 list. Companies' financials are used to enlighten the logistics sector and supply chain operations byrevealing the developments between 2015 and 2019. Design/Methodology/Approach – The performance of the companies is evaluated by utilizing multi-criteriadecision-making techniques. As the best performance criteria affecting the companies’ performance isdetermined by Entropy Method, the company with the best performance is determined by WASPASMethod. Selected financial measurements are net sales, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), total assets, totalequity, and the amount of export. Findings – It can be reached from the results that Export was determined as the best performance criteriaaffecting the logistics companies’ performance for all the years between 2015 and 2019. On the other hand, while Netlog is the best alternative in the year of 2015, 2016 and 2019, Borusan is the best alternative in theyear of 2017. Discussion – Supply chain and logistics processes have critical importance in delivering the goods andservices of businesses to the final consumers. Hence, logistics companies need to determine performancemeasurements while performing these services. It is believed that this study will be useful for the companieswho trade in different sectors and will contribute to the finance literature as a reference for further studies. In this context, because of their quite comprehensive natures, both Entropy and WASPAS methods can beconducted to any manufacturing-related decision-making processes.

Evaluation Study of Using Blockchain Technology in Supply Chain Management Processes
(Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, 2021) KIRBAÇ, GÖKHAN
Nowadays, processes of information technologies have become important for supply chain management. Also, the supply chain processes become even more complex. In order to solve this complexity, businesses manage supply chain processes with many systems. Blockchain has a number of advantages for not only finance but also supply chain. The aim of this research is to serve a descriptive use case for using blockchain technology in the supply chain processes. In-depth interviews are conducted with supply chain managers and blockchain technology professionals. Architectural design processes of blockchain technology in the supply chain are determined. Lastly, Analytic Hierarchy Process was applied to the main characteristics of blockchain. This study is a descriptive study that serves as a roadmap for firms that want to use blockchain technology in their supply chain processes. Keywords: Supply Chain Management, Blockchain Technology, Blockchain Challenges, Logistics Processes, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP).

Blockchain's roles in enhancing supply chain objectives and transportation efficiency
    (2019) Kırbaç, Gökhan; 123816; 121399
Logisties serviees often play a key role in a firm 's ability to deliver eustomer value. It is also so crucial for transportation seetor. Among the key objeetives of an effeetive logisties and transportation serviees within supply ehain management involves getıing the produet in the right condition, in the right time and at the lowest possible eosts. Globalization of supply ehains and transportation modes makes their coordination and control more diffieult. Bloekehain technology enhanees transparency, traceability, and seeurity in global supply ehain and transportation. Measurement of supply ehain management performanee is often deseribed in terms of objeetives such as quality, speed, dependability, eost and flexibility. Bloekehain technology is a distributed ledger technology whieh is essentially a peer-to-peer distributed asset database that can be shared across a network of multiple sites, geographies or instilutions. The teehnology's core innovation lies in its ability to publicfy validate, record and distribute transaetions in immutable, enerypted ledgers. Bloekehain is a disruptive technology for the design, organization, operations, and general management of supply ehains. Many people believe that bloekehain technology will have a profound effeet on industries and societies onee it ereates a global network, allowing individuals, organizations and maehines to transaet with eaeh other without having to trust eaeh other or use third-party verifieation. Bloekehain technology is expeeted to provide more benefits with the rapid use ofnew teehnologies such as the Internet-oj-things (loT) and artifieial intelligence. The aim of this study is to analyze the both in terms of potential conceptual and applieation areas of the bloekehain technology in supply ehain and transportation. Then eomprehensive literature review will be performed in our study. Firstly, the bloekehain studies will be analyzed through ease studies and applieations and new model suggestions will be made for supply ehain and transportation. Furthermore, analyzes will be made on the statisties of eertain authorities on the use of bloekehain technology to reduee ineffieieney in the transportation seetor. In conclusion, Deloitte 's 2019 Global Bloekehain Survey will be analyzed and suggestions will be made aeeordingly.
