Publication Open Access Determining the Opinions of Parents with Children with Special Needs on Digital Games(İstanbul Kültür Üniversitesi, 2024) DENİZ, RABİA; KILIÇ, FİDAN GÜNEŞ GÜRGÖRWith the development of technology, interest in digital games has increased in children with typical development and children with special needs. Many digital games with different contents are played by children with special needs. The research was carried out with the parents of diagnosed children aged 6-13 years. The aim of the research is to determine the views of parents of children with special needs on digital games. The research was designed with phenomenology (phenomenology), one of the qualitative research methods, and the data were created and analyzed using content analysis. A semi-structured interview form and a questionnaire containing demographic information were used in the research. As a result of the data, codes were created and thanks to them, themes and sub-themes were reached. In the research, digital game theme and sub-themes were reached. In consequence of them, it was obtained that children with special needs mostly prefer war games, their purpose of playing games is entertainment, they mostly prefer mobile phones while playing games, and they play games for at least two hours a day. In addition to the findings that digital games contribute positively to the educational processes, skills and development of children with special needs, there were also findings that digital games have negative effects such as children not being able to spare time for their lessons and spending all their time in digital games.Publication Open Access Erken Çocuklukta Üstbilişin Doğası, Desteklenmesi ve Değerlendirilmesi(İstanbul Kültür Üniversitesi, 2024) AYDIN, EBRU; Ünsever, ÖzgeSon yıllarda gerçekleştirilen araştırmalar, küçük çocukların üstbilişsel becerilerden yararlanma kapasitesine sahip olduklarını ve bu becerilerin erken çocuklukta desteklenmesine dair gerekliliği ortaya koymuştur. Literatürde kısa bir geçmiş i olan üstbilişin eğitim araştırmalarına dahil olması ile birlikte bu becerilerin kendiliğinden gelişip gelişmediği ya da hangi öğretim stratejileriyle desteklenebileceği konularında soru işaretleri doğmuştur. Bunlarla birlikte üstbiliş teriminin kapsamının ve sınırlarının belirlenmesi noktasında hala birtakım sınırlılıklar bulunmaktadır. Özellikle üstbilişin bilişten ayrılan özellikleri ve biliş ile etkileşimi, diğer düşünme becerilerinden neden farklı olduğu ve terimin doğası hakkındaki so ru işaretlerinin cevaplanması önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmada üstbiliş teriminin kökeni ve doğası açıklanmış, farklı üstbilişsel modeller karşılaştırılmış, erken çocuklukta üstbilişin ne doğrultuda geliştiği, nasıl desteklenebileceği ve değerlendirilebileceği konularında eğitimcilere ve araştırmacılara bir başvuru kaynağı oluşturmaya çalışılmıştır.Publication Open Access The Views of Pre-service EFL Teachers on Teaching Assistant Practice in Language Teaching(İstanbul Kültür Üniversitesi, 2024) BATAKLAR, SİNAN; Bahadır, AygülThe purpose of the study is to analyze the views on Teaching Assistant Practice (TAP) gathered from five senior English Language Teaching (ELT) students. The primary aim is to investigate and reveal how TAP affects EFL pre-service teachers’ teaching quality. The study was designed using a qualitative approach and a purposive sampling approach. The data was collected using open-ended questions and was analyzed using the qualitative content analysis approach. Based on the evidence, significant themes regarding the TAP were discovered. The following were the themes: excelling on pedagogical content knowledge and teaching quality, raising awareness, and improving teacher roles, the benefits of being professionally present as a teacher in the classroom, and the enhancement of multitasking. It was concluded that with the responses obtained from the prospective teachers, the themes mentioned create a positive atmosphere for them to sharpen their practical teaching skills in a professional sense.
