Küçük Gezegen Örtmelerinin Gözlenmesi

Abstract

The dimneter of an asteroid can only be measured by the occultations. In order to observe an occultation of a star by the asteroid, the first step is to determine the time of its passage infront of a star on the sky. This time can be calculated using WinOccult Ver. 3.0 software. In this method the duration of the occultation of a star is measured. Then the dimneter of the asteroid is calculated-using• the its distance and the orbital velocity. Occultation technique gives very precise results for the spherical shape asteroids. Results obtained from the occultation method can be used the calibration of the other indirect methods such as thermal radiometry.
