Türkiye’deki Ortaokul Fen Bilimleri Ders Kitaplarında Yer Verilen Türk-İslam Bilim İnsanlarının İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’de uygulanan fen bilimleri dersi öğretim programları dikkate alınarak hazırlanmış ortaokul ders kitaplarında bilime katkı veren Türk-İslam bilim insanlarına yer verilme oranlarını ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla 1994, 2000, 2005 ve 2013 ulusal fen öğretim programları çerçevesinde hazırlanan ortaokul ders kitapları doküman analizi ile incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre ders kitaplarında daha çok Batılı bilim insanlarına yer verildiği, Türk-İslam bilim insanlarına ise çok az yer verildiği ve bilime yapmış oldukları katkılardan yeterince bahsedilmediği belirlenmiştir. Türk-İslam bilim insanlarına daha fazla yer verilmesinin öğrencilerimizin bilim ve bilim insanı algılarını olumlu yönde etkileyeceği öneri olarak sunulmuştur. Çalışma sonunda bilime katkılar sunmuş bazı Türk-İslam bilim insanlarının yaptıkları çalışmaların Türkçe ortaokul fen ders kitaplarında nasıl yer verilebileceği ile ilgili önerilere yer verilmiştir.The purpose of this study was to find out the proportion of Turkish-Islamic scientists mentioned in science textbooks based on current and past science curriculums in Turkey. For this purpose, middle school science textbooks based on 1994, 2000, 2005, and 2013 national science curriculums were content analysed. The research findings showed that Western scientists were included with a much higher proportion in the textbooks compared to Turkish-Islamic scientists. It was suggested that increasing the number of Turkish-Islamic scientists cited in textbooks could have a positive impact on Turkish students’ perceptions of science and scientists. In the last section of this study, examples were proposed for including studies of some Turkish-Islamic scientists, who had significant contribution to science, in Turkish middle school science textbooks.
