Abstract
Asaf Halet Celebi, who has a vital place in the Republic Period of Turkish Literature with his own poetic style, wrote a kinf of poetry which did not imitate and could not be imitated. Celebi wrote not only poems but also literary criticism and did extensive studies as well as his translations. His subjects on his studies left their marks in his poetry. It may well be said that Celebi was an intellectual and his using this great wisdom in his poems makes it more difficult to understand his poems. So as to understand 'culture poems' that he wrote thanks to his cultural background, one should- with his own words- 'consider deeply'. At this point, it is necessary to examine the sources of his poems. This study, in which "The Sources of Asaf Halet Celebi's Poetry" are comprehensively discussed, is aimed to help to understand his poetry. The most important of the poet's sources is mysticism. Along with Mysticism, we find out Turkish-Islam Civilization, Western Civilization, Ancient Civilizations, various belief systems, tales and dreams as well as a lot of figures. While Asaf Halet Celebi's sources are discussed, firstly, some general issues and concepts are presented and then the poetics of the poet and how these sources are included in his poetry are also identified.
