Söylenlerde `'Cinler'' ve Altın Pusula filmindeki `'cin'' kavramının çözümlenmesi

Abstract

My aim in this study is while analysing the movie `?The Golden Compass??, to proof that Vladimir Propp?s method in analysing fairy tales and his 31 functions completely overlap with the movie and to examine the `?jinnees?? in myths and analysing the concept of `?Jinnees?? of the movie. After giving some general information about the movie `?The Golden Compass? in the prologue of my study, the applied method and imitated theorist will be specified. The meaning of `?jinn?? will be examined in the second chapter and it will be defined that the concept of `?jinn?? expanded through telling by one to another and that its dictionary meaning is defined as `?invisible being??. In the third chapter of my study, the concept of `?jinn?? which is gained in religious beliefs, myths and fairy tales will be examined. After the scrutiny of the rites of the Shaman?s, the concept of `?jinn?? in the four major religious books, the difference in the belief in `?jinnees?? between the religions of the east and west, and the `?jinnees?? in fairy tales, the Russian theorist Vladimir Propp and his `?the 31 functions of the Morphology of Fairy Tales?? will be addressed. In the fourth chapter, the fairy structure of the movie `?The Golden Compass?? will be analysed according to Vladimir Propp?s method. After examining how many of the events in the film overlap with Propp?s 31 functions, the certificate, the story, and the shooting features of the film will be clarified. In the end of this chapter, the scenes in which `?animal jinnees?? appear will be analysed. In the fifth chapter which is the conclusion of my study, it is verified that the movie `?The Golden Compass?? completely overlaps 30 of the 31 functions of Propp. These functions are expounded one by one and it is commented that while analysing, using Vladimir Propp?s method as base, the analysis will be, without any doubt, reach a successful result.
