Abstract

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar comes along with his versatile identity in Turkish Literature. Behind his completed adventure as an essay writer, critic, narrator, poet and novelist; he nor only leaves some well-qualified works for the next generations but also remains lots of ideas which are going to lead to many debates. Regarding both the social agitations of his life-time period and the missions that a man of letters undertakes, the existence of a mind that always works is seen. This mind leads to the constitution of the works which lets versatile reading. The thing that makes Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar from his contemporary intellectuals and authors is that he mentioned a society's religious life, civilization perception, national components and their positioning against the turmoil by centring the problem of civilization in his entire creations. The main reason behind this intellectual stance is his concerns about the future of the society.
