Reşat Nuri Güntekin'in "Acımak" ve "Yaprak Dökümü" romanlarında baba motifi

Abstract

Resat Nuri Güntekin is an accomplished writer who is one of the reputable names in Turkish literature in the Republican era with his stylistic fluency, his mastery of the technical and narrative aspects, and has countless works read fondly by Turkish people. In his works he tried to give all aspects of Anatolia and Anatolian people, and also he shed light on social problems of the age as well as the social structure which experienced social and individual change. The author's novels named Yaprak Dökümü and Acımak bare the aforementioned features of his works. Both in Yaprak Dökümü and Acımak, the author narrates individuals who struggle to exist in social life and the adversaries of an individual in the face of social change. In each novel, there is a ?father? figure trying to cope with the problems and a message presented through the life views of these two different fathers. In this study, Resat Nuri Güntekin?s life, his literary identity and his works are presented initially, and in the following sections, the problem of the author?s use of the ?father? figure is focused on through the examination of these novels. Within this context, it has been tried to find out the answers to the questions of ?how the author deals with the ?father? figure in these works, what features of the father are emphasized, and for what purpose the father character was created?.
