Tiyatro yapıtlarının sinemaya uyarlanmasında anlatısal ve yapısal değişiklikler: William Shakespeare'in Hamlet oyununun filmsel uyarlama örneği

Abstract

In early years, the art of cinema has created an illusion of real life through `blurry? images. Beginning with the short films shot from a fixed point, the cinema has gained so much attention, because of similarity to real life, that by the time it started to tell stories. The cinema has benefited from the heritage of old theatrical traditions in the early steps of transforming into an art. In that period, cinema did not cross the boundries of theatre, because its potentials were not discovered yet. By the time, the cinema has become one of the largest industry in the world and some of the well-known and popular pieces of literature were being adapted into the motion picture screen. William Shakespeare has contributed to improvement of the cinema as being one of the major sources for screenplays throughout the history of cinema. Especially Hamlet has been adapted in several countries, from various directors, with different style. Cinematographic narration met with semiologic analysis in 1960s. This method has been previously used in only linguistic analysis but in time it was started to be used to analyse in different ares such as cinema, music, advertising poster etc. In this thesis, Algirdas Julien Greimas?s the actant analysis and narrative curriculum will be discussed who was inspired by narrative science of Vladimir Propp in respect to the structuralism and making up his own analysis method. Considering these facts, this thesis will investigate narrative and structual changes occured in the film adaptations of William Shakespeare?s most popular play `Hamlet?.
