Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to address the relationship between adolescents' leisure boredom and digital game addiction. In addition, whether game addiction differentiates according to gender, perceived parental attitude and academic achievement was examined. The Short Form of the Dijital Game Addiction Scale for Adolescents and the Leisure Boredom Scale were used as data collection tools. The sample of the study consists of 258 high school students. As a result of the analysis, it was observed that the digital game addiction levels of boys were higher than girls; As a result of the analyzes made, the digital game addiction levels of boys are higher than girls. Adolescents who think that they are raised with an authoritarian attitude are higher than those who think they are raised with a democratic attitude and adolescents with low academic achievement are higher than medium and high levels. Competence and motivation, which are the sub-dimensions of leisure boredom, explained 16% of game addiction along with gender. While firstly gender and then competence were found to be significant predictors for digital game addiction, motivation was not found to be a significant predictor. According to the results of this research, families have important duties in protecting adolescents from digital game addiction.
