Publication Restricted Adaptation, Reliability, and Validation of the Turkish Version of the Bad Sobernheim Stress Questionnaire-Deformity in Patients With Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis(Wolters Kluwer Health, 2023) Akçay, Burçin; Kuru Çolak, Tuǧba; APTİ, ADNANBackground:There is a limited number of disease-specific outcome measurement scales in Turkish, which can be used for individuals with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). The aim of this study was to translate, adapt, and evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Bad Sobernheim Stress Questionnaire-Deformity (TRv.BSSQD) questionnaire in Turkish patients with AIS.Objective(s):After the translation and back-translation process, the TRv.BSSQD and Scoliosis Research Society-22 questionnaires were completed in face-to-face interviews with 49 patients with AIS. The TRv.BSSQD questionnaire was readministered to the same patients 2 weeks later to assess test-retest reliability. Results:The Cronbach alpha value calculated for internal reliability was 0.806. The intraclass correlation coefficient values of the items of the TRv.BSSQD ranged from 0.809 (P < 0.001) (question 8) to 0.955 (P < 0.001) (question 7). The test-retest correlation coefficient for the item-total score was 0.960 (P < 0.001). Validity analysis showed a significantly positive correlation between the TRv.BSSQD total score and pain, self-image, and mental subgroup and the total scores of the SRS-22r scale (P < 0.05).Conclusions:This patient-reported outcome instrument, the TRv.BSSQD, showed good internal consistency, good reliability with test-retest analysis, and construct validity, suggesting that it is an appropriate assessment instrument for Turkish patients with AIS.Publication Restricted Analyzing the Wastewater Treatment Facility Location/Network Design Problem via System Dynamics: Antalya, Turkey Case(Academic Press Ltd. - Elsevier Science Ltd., 2022) DEMİREL, DUYGUN FATİH; Gönül-Sezer, Eylül Damla; Pehlivan, Seyda AlperenWastewater treatment facility location selection and network design issues have become attractive topics in the field of wastewater management due to increasing human population, resource scarcity, environmental concerns, and rise of necessity for sustainable solutions for future policy designs. Especially in areas where the demand for wastewater treatment increases dramatically over the years because of reasons such as high migration levels, rapid industrialization, and tourism activities, the problem turns out to be more critical and dynamic. The existing studies try to deal with the issue through mathematical modeling approaches based on optimization perspectives, which require significant computational effort. In this study, an alternative approach based on system dynamics (SD) method is proposed to examine the complex dynamic and nonlinear structure of waste-water treatment facility location selection and network design problems. The proposed SD simulation model is designed for a densely populated industrial and tourism spot, the city of Antalya, located on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The model is capable of determining where and when to build a new wastewater treatment facility as well as generating the generic wastewater network structure to be built for the five districts situated in the city center based on cost issues for 2015-2040 period. In addition, the impacts of demand level changes for wastewater treatment due to population variations are analyzed via several scenarios to help decision makers to develop sustainable and cost-efficient management policies. Although SD is a frequently utilized approach in the water/wastewater management arena, to the best of our knowledge, this study is the first attempt to examine the complex and dynamic nature of wastewater treatment facility location selection and network design problems through SD approach.Publication Restricted Anxiolytic-Like Effects of Extremely Low Frequency Electric Field in Stressed Rats: Involvement of 5-HT2C Receptors(Taylor & Francis Ltd., 2022) Kantar, Deniz; Acun, Alev Duygu; AFŞAR, EBRU; Yargıçoğlu, PirayeBackground Possible modulatory effects of noninvasive brain stimulation have gained interest recently. In our study, the effect of low frequency electric fields (LF-EF) on stress-induced electrophysiological, behavioral changes and the possible involvement of serotonergic 5-HT2C receptors were investigated. Materials and methods A total of eight groups including the control groups were formed by applying LF-EF with or without a 5-HT2C receptor agonist to naive or acute stress exposed rats to demonstrate the effects of LF-EF. LF-EF administration at 10 kV/m was started 30 min before acute stress application and lasted for 1 h in total. Anxiety levels and social interaction were evaluated using the elevated plus maze test and social interaction test, respectively. Auditory evoked potentials (AEP) were recorded by using ascending loudness paradigms. Loudness dependence AEP (LDAEP) was calculated by using amplitude values to analyze serotonergic transmission. Serotonin and glucocorticoid levels were measured in the frontal cortex and hippocampus. Results It was observed that the applied LF-EF reduced the anxiety behavior, and attenuated the LDAEP responses in stress and/or 5-HT2C receptor agonist applied groups. In parallel, an increase in serotonin levels and a decrease in glucocorticoid levels were observed. However, LF-EF exposure was ineffective in impaired social interaction. Conclusions Our findings show that 10 kV/m LF-EF administration may modulate the neural network and physiological responses associated with mild acute stress. 5-HT2C receptor dependent functions are thought to play a role in the anxiolytic effect of LF-EF.Publication Restricted Assessment of Nutritional Status, Body Composition and Blood Biochemical Parameters of Patients Following Sleeve Gastrectomy: 6 Months Follow Up(Elsevier, 2021) BATAR, NAZLI; Demir, Halime Pulat; Bayram, Hatice MerveBackground and aims: Today, Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) has recently become the most common bariatric procedure among various bariatric surgical procedures due to its advantages. The aim of this study is to investigate nutritional status, body composition and biochemical parameters following SG. Methods: This was a prospective study, the subjects were patients who underwent SG at a special obesity clinic in Istanbul, Turkey, between 01.05.2017 and 01.11.2017. Recent studies have revealed that videos on YouTube (TM) are misleading or that medical videos may not contain appropriate information. This study aimed to assess the quality and reliability of videos on nutrition after bariatric surgery. Materials and Methods The keywords "after bariatric surgery diet" and "weight loss surgery postop diet" were used, and the first 100 videos for each keyword on YouTube (TM) were analyzed by considering the source, duration, content, and the number of likes of the video. The popularity of the video was calculated using the video power index (VPI) and view rate. The educational quality of the videos was evaluated using the DISCERN score, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) score, the Global Quality Score (GQS), the usefulness score, and a novel postoperation nutrition score (PONS). Results One hundred fourteen patients were included in the study. The mean duration and number of views were 12.51 min and 87,558.46, respectively. The DISCERN score, JAMA score, GQS, and usefulness score of the physicians or dietician-based videos were significantly higher than those of the patient-based videos (p < 0.001). Positive correlations were found between the VPI and view ratio, as well as between the duration and number of likes. Additionally, the DISCERN score was significant correlated with the duration and number of likes. Significantly positive correlations were found between the usefulness score and duration, usefulness score and number of likes, and PONS and duration (p < 0.01). Conclusions Informational videos on nutrition after bariatric surgery on YouTube (TM) are of low quality. Although the videos uploaded by physicians and dieticians have higher quality, only a few are available. Additionally, patients prefer to watch low-quality videos.Publication Restricted Assessment of the Risk of Pressure Ulcer During the Perioperative Period: Adaptation of the Munro Scale to Turkish(Elsevier Science Ltd., 2021) GÜL, ASİYE; Şengül, Tuba; Yavuz, Hafize ÖzgeAim of the study: This study was conducted to adapt the Munro Pressure Ulcer Risk Assessment Scale (Munro Scale) to Turkish and to test its validity and reliability. Materials and methods: In the methodological study, the data were collected using the patient identification form, the Braden Scale, and the Munro Scale. A total of 188 patients were diagnosed for the risk of preoperative and intraoperative pressure ulcer, and then re-evaluated in the recovery room and in their bed. Results: The study group consisted of 81 (43.1%) males and 107 (56.9%) females with a mean age of 51.98 ± 16.87. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin sampling adequacy test was 0.588 and the Bartlett's test was 430.471. The results of goodness of fit indices were not as expected value in the confirmatory factor analysis. In the exploratory factor analysis, it was determined that the factor loadings of the Munro Scale varied between 0.336 and 0.873 and explained 62% of the total variance. In the parallel-form method performed for the reliability of the scale, it was observed that there was a weak and negative correlation between the total scores of the Munro Scale and Braden Scales before the surgery and a negative and moderate correlation between the total scores after the surgery. The total Cronbach's alpha value was found to be 0.504. In the reliability analysis of the scale, interrater correlation coefficients were found to be 0.865-0.998.Publication Open Access The Association of Child Abuse Experiences and Intolerance of Uncertainty in Young Adults(Routledge, 2023) Dirican, Ayşe Hatun; Kozak, Ekin Doğa; Kavakcı, Önder; SÖNMEZ, BERNAObjective: Drawing upon the identity disruption model, we investigated the association between child abuse experiences (emotional, physical, and sexual) and intolerance of uncertainty. We also addressed demographic differences in uncertainty intolerance in this study. Methods: Using online survey questionnaires, we collected data from a sample of 302 young adults in Turkey. The data were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, one-way analysis of variance, and independent samples t-test. Results: The results showed that of the three types of child abuse analyzed, only emotional abuse was significantly and positively associated with intolerance of uncertainty. In contrast, age was negatively associated with intolerance of uncertainty. Regarding demographic differences, we found that the level of intolerance of uncertainty differed based on young adults’ gender, psychiatric diagnosis, and education. Specifically, our findings indicated that intolerance of uncertainty is significantly higher in females compared to males. It is also significantly higher in young adults with a diagnosis for psychiatric disorders than those without. Moreover, intolerance of uncertainty is significantly higher in young adults who have a high school graduate degree than their undergraduate and graduate counterparts. We discussed how child abuse is associated with heightened intolerance of uncertainty in young adulthood as well as why demographic differences may exist in uncertainty intolerance. Conclusions: The present study expanded the existing research on the psychological consequences of childhood abuse experiences by linking child abuse to intolerance of uncertainty. Particularly, exposure to emotional abuse in early life can be a risk factor to cope with uncertainty in later life.Publication Restricted Burnout Levels and Care Behaviours in Intensive Care Nurses: A Cross-Sectional, Multicentre Study(Elsevier Sci Ltd., 2022) Efil, Sevda; TÜREN, SEVDA; Ayvaz, Meryem Yıldız; Bülbül, Elif; Yeni, TuğbaObjective: To examine the relation between burnout levels and caring behaviours in intensive care nurses in Turkey, and the affecting factors. Research methodology/design: The research was conducted as a descriptive, cross-sectional and multi-centred study. Setting: In this study, an online questionnaire was applied in April and May 2021, using Google Form. A total of 460 intensive vare nurses responded to the questionnaire. Main outcome measures: Burnout was assessed with the Maslach Burnout Inventory, and care behaviours with the Caring Behaviours Inventory-24. Results: The nurses reported a high level of emotional exhaustion (73.9%) and depersonalization (52.2%), and a medium level of personal accomplishment (40%). The nurses' levels of perception of care quality were high (5.4 +/- 0.6). It was found that their highest score on the subdimensions was on knowledge and skills (5.6 +/- 0.5), and the lowest was on connectedness (5.2 +/- 0.7). There was a very weak, respectively weak correlation, between nurses' emotional exhaustion (r = -0.1), respectively depersonalization (r = -0.2), and poor care behaviours. There was a strong correlation between low personal accomplishment scores and poor care behaviours (r = 0.8). It was found that the mean scores of the nurses' exhaustion and care behaviours varied according to many descriptive characteristics, such as education, age, professional experience, the unit where they worked, communication difficulties, living conditions and whether they had chosen nursing willingly. Conclusions: It appears that the level of personal accomplishment, is the only subscale reflecting risk of burnout, that strongly correlates with care behaviour.Publication Restricted Comparison of COVID-19 Laboratory Diagnosis by Commercial Kits: Effectivity of RT-PCR to the RT-LAMP(Wiley, 2022) ARTIK, YAKUP; Coşgun, Alp B.; Cesur, Nevra P.; Hızel, Nedret; Uyar, Yavuz; Sur, Haydar; AYAN, ALPCoronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 caused by novel coronavirus/severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2 or 2019-nCoV) is an ongoing pandemic that has emerging global effects and requires rapid and reliable diagnostic testing. Quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (q-RT-PCR) is the gold standard method for SARS-CoV-2 detections. On the other hand, new approaches remedy the diagnosis difficulties gradually. Reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) as one of these novel approaches may also contribute to faster and cheaper field-based testing. The present study was designed to evaluate this rapid screening diagnostic test that can give results in 30-45 min and to compare the effectiveness of LAMP to the q-RT-PCR. The 30 randomly chosen patient samples were generated by nasopharyngeal swabs with a portion of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleic sequence. The sample of quantification cycle (Cq) values was tested using RT-LAMP as well as by conventional q-RT-PCR. The patient samples were tested with four different kits (SENSObiz COVID-19 [SARS-CoV-2] LAMP Assay, the QIAseq DIRECT SARS-CoV-2 kit, Biospeedy SARS-CoV-2 Variant Plus kit, and CoVirion-CV19-2 SARS-CoV-2 OneStep RT-PCR kit) and two different PCR devices (GDS Rotor-Gene Q Thermocycler and Inovia Technologies GenX series). Based on 30 patient samples, the positive/negative ratio (P/N) was 30/0 as Biospeedy and Covirion (positivity 100%), 28/2 as Qiagen kit (positivity 93.3%) for the samples studied on the Inovia device while the same samples on the Rotor-Gene device were 30/0 as Biospeedy and Covirion (positivity 100%), 29/1 as Qiagen kit at the first day (96.7%). On the fifth day, the samples were studied in the Inovia device and the respective results were obtained: 27/3 as Biospeedy (positivity 90%), 16/14 as Qiagen (positivity 53.3%), 28/2 as Covirion kit (positivity 93.3%). When these samples were studied in the Rotor-Gene device, it was 29/1 in Biospeedy and Covirion (positivity 96.7%), 19/11 in the Qiagen kit (positivity 63.3%). When these samples were compared with the LAMP method it was found to be 19/11 (positivity 63.3%) on the first day and 18/12 (positivity 60%) on the fifth day. SARS-CoV-2 test studies will contribute to a proactive approach to the development of rapid diagnosis systems. The LAMP approach presents promising results to monitor exposed individuals and also improves screening efforts in potential ports of entry.Publication Restricted Comparison of Motor Proficiency and Functional Ambulation in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy With Healthy Peers(Taylor & Francis Ltd., 2020) Yıldız, Şulenur; Şahin, Sedef; Bulut, Numan; Tunca Yılmaz, Öznur; Karaduman, Aynur Ayşe; AKEL, BURCU SEMİNAims:The study was aimed to investigate the difference between boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and healthy peers in terms of gross and fine motor proficiency, and determine the relationship between motor proficiency and ambulation. Methods:A total of 24 boys with DMD and 22 healthy peers were evaluated. Demographics and physical characteristics were recorded. The Bruininks Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency-Short Form (BOTMP-SF) was administered to evaluate gross and fine motor proficiency in both groups. The 6-minute walk test (6MWT) was performed to evaluate functional walking capacity and North Star Ambulatory Assessment (NSAA) was used to determine ambulatory status of boys with DMD. Results:The gross motor proficiency score was significantly lower in boys with DMD (p = 0.001). No difference was found between the groups in terms of fine motor proficiency (p = 0.962). The gross motor function of BOTMP-SF was significantly related to 6MWT distance (r = 0.696,p = 0.001) and NSAA (r = 0.738,p = 0.001). No relationship was found between BOTMP-SF fine motor proficiency and 6MWT distance (r = 0.210,p = 0.361), and NSAA (r= -0.020,p = 0.928). There were significant correlations between running speed and agility with 6MWT distance (r = 0.585,p = 0.005) and NSAA (r = 0.650,p = 0.056). Conclusions:Boys with DMD were more affected in aspects of gross motor proficiency than healthy peers, while fine motor proficiency were found same. The gross motor proficiency was found more related to the level of ambulation.Publication Restricted Comparison of Tolerance Related Proteomic Profiles of Two Drought Tolerant Tomato Mutants Improved by Gamma Radiation(Elsevier B.V., 2021) ÇELİK, ÖZGE; AYAN, ALP; MERİÇ, SİNAN; ATAK, ÇİMENLycopersicon esculentum L., also known as tomato, is an important industrial plant due to its products which worth billions of dollars annually, besides its nutritional value and health benefits. In this study, we investigated the two-dimensional protein expression profiles in drought tolerant mutant plants derived from industrial 5MX12956 tomato variety by Cs-137 gamma radiation source induced mutations. Drought tolerance of mutants were evaluated and confirmed by in vivo and in vitro methods. Eleven drought responsive protein spots were identified by two-dimensional electrophoresis and MALDI-TOF-MS. Identified proteins which presented differential expression under drought conditions were clustered under six distinct groups based on their cellular functions. These clusters are ATP and carbohydrate metabolism, mRNA processing and protein phosphorylation, oxidation reduction and stress response, signaling and supporting cytoskeleton. Our results contributed proteomic data to drought tolerance of our tomato mutants which were originated from drought susceptible 5MX12956 variety. They may also facilitate basis for future investigations into the genetic and physiological aspects of this tolerance. © 2021 Elsevier B.V.Publication Restricted Cross-Cultural Adaptation, Reliability, and Validity of a Turkish Version of the Work Rehabilitation Questionnaire (WORQ-Turkish)(Springer Plenum, 2021) Aran, Orkun Tahir; Abaoğlu, Hatice; Çağlar, Gamze Ekici; AKEL, BURCU SEMİN; Aki, Esra; Karahan, Sevilay; Kayıhan, HülyaPurposeThe Work Rehabilitation Questionnaire (WORQ) is an instrument based on the International Classification of Functioning Vocational rehabilitation core set. Women's approach and cultural beliefs are effective in ensuring early diagnosis. This study examined psychometric properties of the Ferrans Cultural Beliefs Scale and assessed cultural beliefs on breast cancer and screening programs among Turkish women. Method: The study was performed in a descriptive and cross-sectional design with 420 women using the Ferrans Cultural Beliefs Scale that is considered reliable and valid in Turkey. Results: The mean total score of the Ferrans Cultural Beliefs Scale was 3.24 +/- 3.16. The highest "yes" responses were for the statement "If breast cancer is treated correctly, it can be cured" (n = 387, 92.1%). Discussion: This study, which is the first in Turkey, highlights the importance of measuring the effects of Turkish healthy women's cultural beliefs in breast cancer and screening for early diagnosis. Determining women's cultural beliefs will make known the attitudes and behaviors toward breast cancer, so that the nurse will provide sensitive and effective nursing care, develop nursing knowledge, and integrate this knowledge with clinical practice.Publication Restricted The Determination of Patient Learning Needs After Day Surgery: A Cross-Sectional Study(Elsevier, 2022) Üstündağ, Hülya; GÜL, ASİYE; Özkaya, BirgülPurpose: This study was conducted to investigate the care perception and learning needs of patients undergoing day surgery. Design: A descriptive and cross-sectional model was used. Methods: The study was conducted with 234 patients who underwent day surgery in a general surgery clinic of a university hospital. Data were collected using a sociodemographic characteristics form, the Patient Perception of Hospital Experience with Nursing Scale (PPHEN) and the Patient Learning Needs Scale (PLNS). Findings: The PPHEN mean score was 67.99 ± 11.98 and the PLNS total score was 211.15 ± 38.49. The subscales showed that the highest scores were 38.47 ± 6.93 for activities of life, while the lowest score was 20.60 ± 4.23 for feelings related to condition. There was a statistically significant negative correlation in the PPHEN and PLNS subscales in terms of medications, activities of living, treatment, and complications. There was no statistically significant relationship between the demographic data of the patients (age, gender, and educational status). Conclusions: This study demonstrated that patients had high information needs and greater concerns, particularly about "activities of life." Nurses should be aware of the importance of identifying high learning needs to increase the level of satisfaction with nursing care in day surgery patients.Publication Restricted Determining the Relationship Between the Impairment of Selective Voluntary Motor Control and Gait Deviations in Children With Cerebral Palsy Using Simple Video-Based Analyses(Elsevier Ireland Ltd., 2021) Sardogan, Cansu; Muammer, Rasmi; AKALAN, NAZİF EKİN; Sert, Rukiye; Bilgili, FuatBackground: The impairment of selective voluntary motor control (SVMC) in children with cerebral palsy (CP) has been shown to correlate with their gait characteristics using complex 3D gait analysis systems (3DGA); however, this relationship has not been investigated using simple video-based observational gait analysis (VBOGA). The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between VBOGA and SVMC of the lower extremities in children with CP. Methods: Forty-two CP children 10.9 +/- 5.7 years old with Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) levels I-III participated in the study. Their gait characteristics were assessed using the Edinburgh Visual Gait Score (EVGS), and selective voluntary motor control was tested using the Selective Control Assessment of the Lower Extremity (SCALE). Spearman's rho correlation test with Cohen's classification were used in the statistical analyses. Results: The GMFCS levels (r = 0.604, p < 0.001), foot clearance (r = -0.584. p < 0.001), and maximum ankle dorsiflexion (r = -0.567, p < 0.001) during the swing phase had strong correlations with total SCALE scores. There was also a moderate correlation between total SCALE scores and total EVGS (r = -0.494, p < 0.001), knee extension in the terminal swing phase (r = -0.353, p < 0.001), peak sagittal trunk position (r = -0.316, p < 0.005), and maximum lateral shift (r = -0.37, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Impaired lower extremity SVMC was noticeably related to the foot and ankle movements in the swing phase and initial stance during walking as well as the total EVGS scores and sagittal and frontal trunk movements. The SCALE correlations with VBOGA were similar those observed in the complex 3DGA in the literature; therefore, we suggest that SVMC impairment of gait could be evaluated using simple VBOGA. These findings may help to tailor physical therapy programs for CP children to increase their motor control and walking quality.Publication Restricted The Effect of Kinesiophobia on Physical Activity, Balance, and Fear of Falling in Patients with Parkinson's Disease(Taylor & Francis Inc., 2022) Oğuz, Semra; UZUNOĞLU, GAMZE ERTÜRK; Polat, Mine Gülden; Apaydın, HülyaPurpose Kinesiophobia is defined as the fear of movement and activity resulting from a feeling of vulnerability to painful injury or re-injury. This study aimed to determine the effect of kinesiophobia on physical activity, balance, and fear of falling in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods The study, which was designed as a cross-sectional type, was conducted with 86 patients with Parkinson's disease (age 61.25 SD [9.72] years old) by face-to-face interviews with the patients. The Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia, International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form, Berg Balance Scale, Falls Efficacy Scale, Visual Analog Scale - Fear of Falling, Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale - motor score, and the Hoehn and Yahr scale were used to evaluate the patients. Results Patients with Parkinson's disease who had high levels of kinesiophobia had lower levels of physical activity, worse balance, and higher disease severity and fear of falling. A correlation was found between the Tampa Scale score and physical activity, balance, fear of falling, falls efficacy, and disease motor score (p r = -0.38, -0.54, 0.67, 0.57, and 0.37, respectively). According to multiple linear regression analysis, kinesiophobia explained the dependent variables to varying degrees ranging from 13% to 44% (p < .001). Conclusions Patients with Parkinson's disease may have kinesiophobia. Rehabilitation programs to support functional capacity for these patients should be developed considering the presence of kinesiophobia.Publication Restricted Effect of the Head of Bed Elevation on Back Pain After Elective Coronary Angiography: A Randomized Controlled Trial(W.B. Saunders, 2022) TÜREN, SEVDA; YILMAZ, RAHİME ATAKOĞLU; Yeşiltepe, Nezahat; Bektaş, İbrahimBackground: Patients are restricted to bed and required to lie flat after coronary angiography (CAG) due to potential risk of vascular complications. This often cause back pain. Aim: We aimed to investigate effect of the head of bed (HOB) elevation on back pain and vascular complications after elective CAG. Methods: Three hundred and seven consecutive patients who underwent elective CAG were randomized into three groups. One control (HOB: 0 degree-flat position) and two experimental (HOB: 15 and 30°) groups were compared. Back pain level was assessed by using visual analogue scale. Results: Mean age was 58.1 ± 10.7 and 59.9% (n = 184) of patients were male. Pain level at the 3rd hour and at the 6th hour was significantly higher in control group compared to experimental groups. In the post-hoc analysis, pain level was significantly higher in HOB 15 compared to 30°. In multivariate analysis, HOB elevation to 30° was the only independent predictor of the pain level at 3rd hour and 6th hour. Only one patient in the HOB 0 degree group had a minor bleeding at the access site. Conclusions: Elevation of the HOB to 30° was associated with decreased back pain level without increased risk of vascular complications. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.Publication Restricted The Effects of Conformation and Intermolecular Hydrogen Bonding on the Structure and IR Spectra of Flutamide; A Study Based on the Matrix Isolation Technique, Ab Initio and DFT Calculations(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd., 2023) Arman, C.; Balcı, K.; Akkaya, Y.; AKYÜZ, SEVİM; Reaves-Mckee, T.; Frankamp, AH; Coates, JT; Collier, WB; Ritzhaupt, G.; Klehm, CE; Desman, P.In this study, stable conformers of flutamide referred to as an anticancer drug were searched through a relaxed potential energy surface scan carried out at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory. This was followed by geometry optimization and thermochemistry calculations performed with the HF-SCF, MP2, B3LYP methods and the 6-31G (d), 6-311++G(d,p), aug-cc-pvTZ basis sets for each of the determined minimum energy conformers. The results revealed that flutamide has at least five stable conformers and two of them provide the major contribution to the observed matrix isolation infrared (IR) spectra of the molecule. The effects of conformational variety and intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions on the observed IR spectra of flutamide were interpreted in the light of the vibrational spectral data obtained for the most stable monomer and dimer forms of the molecule at the same levels of theory. Pulay's "Scaled Quantum Mechanical-Force Field (SQM-FF)" method was used in the refinement of the calculated harmonic wavenumbers, IR intensities and potential energy distributions. This scaling method which proved its superiority to both anharmonic frequency calculations and other scaling methods helped us to correctly interpret the remarkable differences between the matrix IR spectra of flutamide in argon and the condensed phase IR spectra of the molecule in solvents such as KBr, H2O, D2O, ethanol and methanol.Publication Restricted Effects of High Intensity Interval Training and Sprint Interval Training in Patients With Asthma: A Systematic Review(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2022) UZUNOĞLU, GAMZE ERTÜRK; Günday, Çiçek; EVRENDİLEK, HALENUR; Sağır, Kübra; Aslan, Göksen KuranObjective The aim of this study is to review the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT)/sprint interval training (SIT) on asthma symptoms, cardiorespiratory functions, and other variables among asthmatic patients. Data sources Randomized controlled trials published between January 2000 and January 2021 were searched in PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases. Study selections Following pre-specified inclusion criteria, this review included 7 randomized controlled studies that compare HIIT/SIT as an intervention with any other intervention and/or control group. Results Of the included studies only four reported the chronic phase effects of the HIIT/SIT protocols. HIIT and SIT protocols applied in studies differ. HIIT improved forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1) in the acute phase and maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) in the chronic phase in the asthmatic patients (p < 0.05). Conclusion To our knowledge, our systematic review is the first study evaluating the effects of HIIT/SIT protocols on asthma patients. HIIT/SIT protocols have beneficial effects on asthma patients. In order to better understand the results of these training procedures, studies that will be designed with high methodology are needed.
