"Smart city" has not yet reached a single definition in the literature. Smart cities, consisting of smart economy, smart living, smart environment, smart people, smart mobility and smart governance components, are of course technology-oriented. Technology is a tool, and therefore the expectation that technology will make a city livable on its own is unrealistic. Big data, the Internet of Things (loT), and information technologies play an important role in making municipal activities efficient, but their impact on livability is low. Although artificial intelligence has been developed, smart cities still need operators, engineers, architects and designers. Art should be the focus of city planning. Thus, the branding, livability and sustainability of a city becomes easier. But, the art institutions are ignored when designing smart cities. Public art is an issue that needs to be focused on at this point. Museums and public art are seen as community assets and makes cities livable. In this paper, the relationship between smart cities and public art will be examined based on "Art in Public Space" report prepared by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts. Paris, London, Vienna and Amsterdam are compared with Istanbul. As a result, this study aimed to bring cultural policy proposals for Istanbul. Publication Metadata only Colour as Cultural Indicators During Ottoman Period(Proceedings of the Interium Meeting of The International Colour Association AIC, 2006-12-24) Küçükerdoğan, Rengin; Küçükerdoğan, Bülent; Zeybek, Işıl; 8718; 141147Publication Metadata only Colour Semantics in the Sufism of Rumi(2019-09) Yıldıran, Ayşe; 112109This paper aims to propose a semantic analysis of colour used in Mawlana Jalal-al-Din Rumi’s Sufi poetry which was created following the lost of his mystical love, Sams-al-Din Tabrizi. Due to Sams’s guidance, the Sufism of Rumi (1207-1273), had shifted towards ‘Sama’. This form of worship including music and whirling dance, caused the mystical mentor Sams to leave Konya, and to disappear for ever. After his abandonment, Rumi devoted himself to producing works. His poetry was world wide known both in his native tongue Persian, and in many other languages including Turkish after six hundred years. Even one work by Rumi, that is Divan-i Kebir, is composed of more than 43.000 distichs thanks to his creative genius by synthesising Islam, Sufism, Iranian Literature and Culture. This paper investigates his works as a historical corpus with a synchronic approach by refering to Turkish, English and French translations when needed. Does the Turkish translation, correspond to the Basic Colour Terms (BCT) of Old Anatolian Turkish? How many of Arabic and Persian references which were blended together are reflected to Old Anatolian Turkish and then to modern Turkish? How many of BCT is Turkish? In this sense, digital spaces are “new channels” where access to products and services is faster, thus facilitating the lives of individuals. These digital spaces are used especially by brand owners, where, though their specific strategies of digital marketing, they are able to reach consumers. This study will concentrate on brands that connote meanings of “luxury” and see what kind strategies they use in digital spaces. These strategies no doubt differ from other brands, which use more “daily” and “common” methods of marketing. Marketers need to orient consumers in a particular manner in order to them to purchase luxury items online. In this context, this study will look at the relationship between luxury brands and their target audience in the internet based new economic platform, and how products associated with “luxury” are focused on “value” on the internet. An example will be taken and will be analyzed with a semiological method of analysis, where the influence of the strategies of luxury brands on the attitude of consumers will be evaluated.Publication Metadata only Documentary Film Elements in Instagram Stories: A study on Phenomena(2018) Çakar Bikiç, Nagihan; Türten, Burak; 229483; 215474Yeni iletişim teknolojilerinin gelişmesi birlikte sosyal ağlar, bireylerin günlük yaşamlarının bir parçası haline gelmiştir. Publication Metadata only Does Doctors' Perception Of Hospital Leadership Style And Organizational Culture Influence Their Organizational Commitment?(Soc Personality Res Inc, P O Box 1539, Palmerston North 5330, New Zealand, 2014) Güney, Salih; Katrinli, Alev; PARSEHYAN, BESTE GÖKÇE; 26387; 7380; 3920Our aim in this study was to determine the effect of organizational culture on the relationship between perception of leadership style and commitment to the organization by identifying firstly how Turkish doctors perceived the leadership behavior at private hospitals and then assessing the level of their organizational commitment. We developed and then tested a research model that incorporated leadership style, organizational commitment, and organizational culture. We distributed a survey to doctors working at four private hospitals in Turkey (N = 98). We found that doctors' perceptions of leadership behavior had a statistically significant, positive effect on their level of organizational commitment. We also found that organizational culture did not act as a moderator in this relationship.Publication Metadata only Ethics in New Media: The Case Of Bobiler.org(Medimond S R L, Via Maserati 5, 40128 Bologna, 00000, Italy, 2012-03-07) Yengin, Deniz; Küçükerdoğan, Bülent; 27386; 113703Today's environment, where knowledge is considered to be the most essential capital, is regarded as information society. This is not a simple question to deal with since it is directly related with the cognitive claims in the Critique of Pure Reason. Different approaches, from analytic to continental traditions, from psychological readings of Kant to the advocates of philosophy of mind hold different views on this subject. This variety is a result of the status and the role of the imagination, and the kinds of syntheses it realizes which differs in the first and the second editions of the Critique of Pure Reason. In the first edition, imagination is considered as one of the three fundamental faculties among sensibility and apperception, and it is the agent of the syntheses. However, in the second edition, imagination becomes a sub-faculty of the understanding and the syntheses are realized by the understanding. I claim that the A edition of the CPR is more accurate with the entire critical project. Although philosophers like Wilfrid Sellars,1 John McDowell2 and Hannah Ginsborg3 defend that non-conceptual content is not possible, I disagree with this view and see it as a result of taking the B edition, additionally, the debate concerning the third Critique is a repercussion of this. Moreover, these disputes are also related with holding the first and the third Critiques as having completely distinct contents which opens up another “battle field”. I claim that the first and the third Critiques are connected through the faculties, and Kant was very well aware of the fact that he utilizes the same faculties as he used to explain human cognition in the CPR. 1 See Wilfrid Sellars, “The role of imagination in Kant’s theory of experience”. Paul Guyer & Eric Matthews, Cambridge University Press, New York, 2007, 5:209 Concerning the conceptual and non-conceptual contents, the crucial point is the threefold synthesis, especially the synthesis of apprehension that aims directly empirical and pure intuitions4 in the first edition of the CPR, and which is revisited in the introduction of the third Critique. Kant stresses in several sentences that intuitions and thoughts are different and they cannot hold each other’s place.5 Since sensibility and understanding need to be separate in transcendental philosophy, there is the need to combine them with a third faculty which is the faculty of imagination. Although I am not in analytic tradition, I agree with Robert Hanna who takes the first edition of the Critique and indicates that imagination as the third faculty can both serve to the sensibility and the understanding6 by the threefold synthesis, and there is non-conceptual content in imagination’s relation to sensibility. As indicated above, the claim that there is non-conceptual content in the synthesis of imagination finds its supports in the third Critique. Besides the synthesis of apprehension, this claim becomes obvious in the free play between the imagination and the understanding that occurs without submitting to any concepts. Kant clearly indicates that the feeling of beautiful does not come from a concept nor it aims at one.7 And this is the reason why aesthetic feelings are always subjective, and thus we do not have any rules for aesthetic appreciation.Publication Open Access Futurist approach to the cinema: the investigation of the movie named "Minority Report"(Istanbul Kultur Univ, Atakoy Campus, Bakirkoy, Istanbul, 34156, Turkey, 2016-04) Boyar, NihanThe future phenomenon that the societies see as an expectation is related with the existing power of all the things that are new. Fundamentally, the realization of every new thing could also represent the promise for those to be carried out in the future. On the other hand, the technological gadgets produced nowadays have been adopted by the society and become the necessities of our life styles. Therefore, this increases the desire of the masses for new. As in other fields of art, the concept of futurism, which has idealized the futurism, technology, and every kind of scientific developments, has also emerged in cinema. When considered from this point of view, the fictional technologies created in the movies has been converting into the gadgets that we employ today, and this situation has a great importance in terms of variations in scientific and cultural fields. Thus, in this study, in our age, the reality and usability dimensions of utopian means created as fictional products have been analyzed on the basis of the movie named "Minority Report".Publication Metadata only Google's localization strategy in marketing communication techniques by using Doodle: Doodle examples in Turkey(2019-12) Koçak, Sevinç; 47434Markalar küreselleşen pazar koşulları ve değişen tüketici profilleri nedeniyle pazarlama iletişimi çalışmalarını gerçekleştirirken hem küresel hem de yerel davranarak konumlanma stratejisi benimseme eğiliminde devam etmektedirler.
