Agent Based Computational Economics: A Review, Challenges And Future Direction
(Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi, 2025) YOLUSEVER, ARAS
Agent-Based Computational Economics (from now ACE) is a dynamic field that combines computational techniques with economic theory to model and analyze complex adaptive systems. It originated from Guy Orcutt's pioneering work in 1957, which introduced microsimulation for economic transactions and interactions. ACE has evolved significantly, particularly with advanced computational technologies in the mid-1990s, leading to the rise of agent-based models (ABMs) and complex adaptive systems (CAS). These advancements allow researchers to simulate individual agents' behaviors and interactions within an economy, revealing emergent properties of economic systems. ACE sets itself apart from classical economic theory by incorporating the concept of bounded rationality, which acknowledges that decision-makers have limited information and cognitive capabilities. This approach also emphasizes the constant interaction among these decision-makers and the existence of multiple equilibrium situations. Overall, it offers a heterodox perspective that diverges from the traditional economic modeling methods. However, ACE studies face some challenges and limits. The main objective of this research is to conduct a literature review, analyze the historical progression of ACE, examine recent advancements and challenges, and explore the potential future trajectory of this economic approach.
Reflections of Institutional Theory in Mainstream And Turkish Literature: A Cross-Cultural Bibliographic Comparison Between 2014-2025
(Türk Kooperatifçilik Kurumu, 2025) MUMCU, ARTÜR YETVART
The primary goal of this research was to investigate the manifestations of institutional theory in both the mainstream academic literature and Turkish scholarly literature, and to evaluate the applicability of the theory in different cultural and contextual settings. The research employs a methodology of analyzing 25,052 articles indexed in the Web of Science database together with 1,783 articles obtained from Dergipark. The present study is based on a systematic review and bibliographic analysis of the theory's universal dimensions and its context-dependent variations, as displayed through the network mapping function of VOSviewer. Besides, a trend analysis was performed as a means of tracing the historical progression of publication patterns, while a comparative examination of key terms was executed to mark distinctions between the shared concepts and those found exclusively in each literature stream. The thematic connection mapping through network mapping, the research pinpoints the main research areas within institutional theory in different configurations. The results demonstrate that the divergent nature of Turkish literature in comparison with the mainstream literature dominated the debate on the Relational Progress of Establishing New Institutions and the construction of context-sensitive policies. What is more, the findings also stress the significance of cross-cultural comparisons in revealing how institutional theory remains mostly constant in its basic ideas and principles but adapts to a range of socio- cutural conditions.
The Distinction Between Online Social Capital and Traditional Social Capital: A Bibliographic Comparison
Redefining Women's Entrepreneurship: A Conceptual Comparison with General Entrepreneurship
(Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi Kadın Araştırmaları ve Eğitimi Merkezi, 2025) MUMCU, ARTÜR YETVART
This study compares the literature on women entrepreneurship and general entrepreneurship, examining the thematic and conceptual differences between the two fields. The analysis includes articles published in English up to 2025 in the Web of Science database. In the women entrepreneurship literature, a total of 5,058 articles and 8,983 keywords were identified, while in the general entrepreneurship literature, 24,038 articles and 31,385 keywords were analyzed. The findings indicate that the women entrepreneurship literature primarily focuses on themes such as gender, empowerment, social capital, and social entrepreneurship. In contrast, the general entrepreneurship literature encompasses broader themes, including innovation, entrepreneurship education, institutional structures, and economic growth. While concepts like empowerment, social entrepreneurship, and intersectionality are prominent in the women entrepreneurship literature, the general entrepreneurship literature emphasizes innovation, institutions, and entrepreneurial ecosystems. The findings of this study provide a crucial foundation for understanding the unique challenges and opportunities of women entrepreneurs while underscoring the need for a more inclusive perspective in general entrepreneurship literature. These differences highlight the importance of integrating the two fields for a more balanced and inclusive understanding of entrepreneurship. Future research is recommended to ensure greater representation of women entrepreneurship in the general entrepreneurship literature and to foster mutual enrichment between the two fields.
Fifth-Order Compact Finite Difference Scheme for Burgers-Huxley Equation
(Necip Şimşek, 2025) AKKOYUNLU, CANAN
The Burgers-Huxley equation arises in several problems in science. The compact finite difference scheme (CFDS) has been developed for the Burgers-Huxley equation. This scheme has been compared different methods for the Burgers-Huxley equation. Dispersive properties are investigated for the linearized equations to examine the nonlinear dynamics after discretisation. The accuracy and computational efficiency of the compact finite differences scheme are shown in numerical test problems.
