Publication Open Access Avrasya Ekonomik Topluluğu, Enerji Politikası ve Ukrayna Krizi(Beta Yayınları, 2014) YESEVİ, ÇAĞLA GÜL; 140841Publication Embargo Energy Relations between Turkey and Russia: Conflict In Energy Projects(2014) Yavuz Tiftikçigil, Burcu; YESEVİ, ÇAĞLA GÜL; 33044; 140841Energy is the most strategic sector which necessitates long term decisions that highly affect the economy, development, internal security and foreign policy of a country. Continuing significance of oil and gas in geopolitics affects the positions and strategies of actors. The Middle East and Eurasia controls the most a significant portion of hydrocarbons that are yet to be discovered. Russia holds the world's largest natural gas reserves, the second-largest coal reserves, and the ninth-largest crude oil reserves. Turkey has concentrated its efforts for the transportation of Caspian oil and gas reserves to Western markets on the realization of the EastWest Energy Corridor, and North-South Corridor. Turkey will inevitably contribute to Europe’s energy supply security. Turkey’s objective is to become Europe’s fourth main artery of energy supply. New pipelines will enhance Turkey’s role as an important transit country on the Eurasia energy axis and energy hub in the region. In this study, the history of Turkish and Russian energy policies and main principles of their energy strategies. War between nation-states will be disregarded. War comprises organized psychological pressures, all kinds of restraints, physical and psychological abuses, usage of aggressive terminology, strict and dogmatic political and social thoughts. In that sense, first category of war is war against women especially in my own society, people living in Turkey including both Turks and Kurds. Women have been facing religious pressures as veiling. Some other women have demanded the freedom of veiling in the official life. They haven’t been educated as men. They have been beaten, forced to do all households. They have been forced to get married in their early ages. The arranged marriages and polygamy have been other problems of women. It was settled in the minds, myths, terminology, narratives, and customs, social, economic and political life of people. Secondly, terrorism will be investigated. The history and activities of terrorist organization, Kurdistan Workers’ Party against Turkey will be revealed. Thirdly, the state’s war against its own citizens will be explained. This war could also be defined with the war between the government and the people. Both democratic and authoritarian states through party in the power could wage war against their own citizens by creating Fear Empire. Governments could use their legislative powers against citizens who have antagonistic ideas. Economic support has been given to supporters of government. The causes of judicial case related to Ergenokon Crime organization will be stated. Allegedly, this organization comprising nationalist and secular intellectuals and members of high military command tried to form coup d’état against government of Justice and Development Party. Many people were detained, long trial process has been continuing.Publication Restricted Evaluating the International Renewable Energy Agency Through the Lens of Social Constructivism(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd., 2021) Mengi-Dincer, H.; Ediger, V. S.; YESEVİ, ÇAĞLA GÜLIt is widely accepted that renewable energy will contribute to building a more sustainable world, and a transition from a fossil fuel-dominated to a renewable-based energy system is inevitable. However, only 5% of the world's primary energy consumption comes from renewables. It will, therefore, take considerable time to implement international policies and take effective actions to increase the use of renewable energy to a level that mitigates climate change. States remain the primary decision-makers in the international structure, but international organizations can help states internalize and form new identities by creating norms. It is expected that the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) will have a voice on international renewable energy policies. This study seeks to explain how IRENA helps shape these policies through its interactions with major players. It examines the agency's activities, initiatives, and tools over the past 10 years, and how it contributes to norm emergence and identity creation in renewable energy through social constructivism. Using the constructivist approach, this study argues that IRENA's efforts to create norms have succeeded to a considerable extent, but the agency needs to spread its initiatives more equally around the world so that these norms become truly universal. Today, nearly every state needs to improve its renewable energy policies. This objective may only be possible if states form a common identity through the internalization of renewable energy norms. IRENA still has a lot of work to do.Publication Open Access Examining the Organization of Turkic States: A Teacher and Norm-Creator(T.C. Dışişleri Bakanlığı Stratejik Araştırmalar Merkezi, 2022) YESEVİ, ÇAĞLA GÜLThe Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is evaluated in this article by means of a social constructivist approach. Social constructivism emphasizes the roles of international organizations in norm-emergence, norm-creation and standard-setting. The new norms that international organizations initiate can shape, change and regulate the behaviors of states. As Martha Finnemore states international organizations may act as teachers. They can persuade states to adopt cooperative behavior, accept the culture of the organization and internalize the organization’s values. International organizations can thus be seen as essential vehicles for the socialization of states. States may become more eager to rearrange their foreign policy decisions in response to the socially constructed norms held by international organizations. This article will examine the role of the OTS as an agent and a principal in the new regionalization process.
