Publication Metadata only Additive Production as Metamorphosis in Production Morphology(2019-12) Alçın, Sinan; 9467Production as a live process, describes a flow in which different components come together in different shapes and quantities into a different new component. Production in its simplest form involves the effort to bring out something new, while in another aspect it is a process of extracting mineral from the soil, water from the river, and oxygen from the air. In the manufacturing stage of production, there are three classical methods: Cutting, Engraving and Forming. All three of these methods include cutting, engraving and shaping the mine or compound drawn from soil, air and water. The production compound detached from nature experiences the second intervention in the manufacturing stage. This metazori is a metaphormosis. In recent years, Additive Manufacturing has entered our agenda with three- dimensional printers and scanners, unlike classical production and manufacturing methods; with a wide range of material combinations using very different techniques (FDM, SLA, DLP, SLS etc.) production from the current state, it is based on the idea of integrating the fragmented state of the present. Additive Manufacturing enables product possibilities such as iron powder motor housing or a jointless table, the main purpose of this study is to discuss how differentiated from current production.Publication Metadata only Globalization and Turkey's energy policies(2014) Kıvılcım, FulyaAlong with the concept of globalization, the changing paradigm in international politics has been attached to energy policies of states. From an economic perspective to political tendencies, the interdependency of energy and security concerns illustrates the possible outbreak of wars and national conflicts around the globe. Turkey, within the geo-political and geo-strategic position, is under a competitive challenge of security paradigm whilst the hegemonic powers' energy policies attach to her hinterland in the region. This chapter examines the energy policies of great powers in the international arena and the effects of these policies on developing countries. In this study, alternative security strategies and energy policies have been assessed for long-term economic and politic stability for Turkey.Publication Metadata only Impact of High Technology Export on Economic Growth: An Analysis on Turkey(2019-06-21) Erdil Şahin, Begüm; 112240High-technology exports, with their high added value, are considered as one of the determinants of growth in recent years. The increasing competitiveness of developing countries in international markets depends on the country's capacity to produce and export high-tech products. Therefore, the export of high technology products is especially important for the economic growth and development of the countries. After 1980, Turkey has transitioned from import substitution to export-oriented industrialization strategies and largely completed the liberalization process during 1990s. Important policies for industrialization have been implemented by improving the export structure within the scope of competitive advantages. In this study the effects of the causality analysis on the economic growth of high-tech exports in Turkey has been investigated. Granger Causality Analysis was used to determine the direction of the relationship and the results of the variance decomposition were evaluated. In conclusion, it was found out that high technology exports affect economic growth.Publication Metadata only The effects of Elders' earnings on income inequality: Evidence from Turkey(2019-01) Bayar, Ayşe Aylin; Yanık İlhan, Bengi; GÜMÜŞOĞLU, NEBİLE KORUCU; 115505; 149871A structural transformation occurs during the last decades and due to the changing conditions of the demographic structures of developing countries, the living standards have improved. Therefore this has led to an ageing population in Turkish economy. Based on the changing conditions, the participation of older workers in the labor market has been increased. On the other hand, the increased integration to the world economy causes inevitable distributional consequence and hence, trends in the distribution of income have received substantial attention in recent years. As income inequality becomes an important issue especially for developing countries, there exists a vast survey in the literature about income inequality. However, the importance of the older workers for the income inequality is not being questioned in these studies. According to the literature, this study seems to be the first that investigates the impacts of elders’ earnings on income inequality for Turkey. In that sense, the main focus of this study is to reveal the importance of the older workers in labor market and to investigate the impact of elders’ earnings on inequality by using counterfactual distribution of income. For the empirical examination, Income and Living Conditions Survey and conducted by TurkStat for the years 2006, 2011 and 2016 is utilized. At first, as to reveal the changes in the income inequality, results from the basic inequality measures will be implemented. The results for overall inequality level of Turkey show that inequality declined throughout the investigated years. After that, as our goal is to compare the existing distribution in each year to the distribution that would occur if older workers had no earnings, ceteris paribus we develop a hypothetical equation. In order to apply that, we calculate the counterfactual distribution for each year by setting olders' earnings equal to zero. The preliminary results show that, olders’ earnings have equalizing effect. By discriminating the impact of olders’ earnings from other sources of income, the results reveal that, olders’ earnings have a small contribution on the income inequality.Publication Metadata only The Relationship Between High-Technology Exports, Patent and Economic Growth in Turkey (1990-2015)(2019-06-21) Dereli, Deniz Dilara; 112577Today technology ise one of the main driving force of economic growth. Indicators as high-technology exports and patent shows the progress of technological development of economies. In this study the relationship between high-technology exports, patent and economic growth in Turkey is evaluated for 1990-2015 period. Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test, Granger Causality test, Johansen Cointegration test and Vector Error Correction (VEC) Granger test is conducted respectively. Study resuts show a causality relationship from both high-technology exports and patent to economic growth. A long term relationship is identified by Johansen Cointegration test. And in long term one way causality relationship is also found from both high-technology exports and patent to economic growth.Publication Metadata only Why are some regions rich and others poor? The impact of climate on regional income disparities(ROUTLEDGE JOURNALS, TAYLOR & FRANCIS LTD, 2-4 PARK SQUARE, MILTON PARK, ABINGDON OX14 4RN, OXON, ENGLAND, 2019-05) Karaca, OrhanIn this study, the impact of climate on regional income disparities is investigated on a sample of 10 countries. The sample includes three northern European countries (Finland, Sweden and Norway), two equatorial countries (Colombia and Brazil) and five temperate countries (Poland, Germany, France, Italy and Spain). Regression analyses have shown that population and economic activity are concentrated in relatively hot regions in cold countries, and relatively cold regions in hot countries. Climate also has a statistically significant effect on regional per capita income.
