Consequently, internet has emerged as a giant web of computers throughout the world connected to one another by means of their communication lines. The number of people benifitting from the grat ease that compueters provide is increasing day by day.
The increase in internet use within Turkey is of striking dimensions. However, inadequate academic attention has been focused on the identity of users and the purposes for which they use their computers.

For the purpose of the study, a total of 1000 subjects living İstanbul, Ankara and izmir and connected to internet were interviewed face-to-face. Standard questionnaires were filled out. The study, which began in November, 1999, was completed in October, 2000||tr_TR
